Thread Topic: Moderators are locking threads too freely
-
They lock anything that has been bumped. We should be able to bump what we want as long as it's not multiple threads.
-
We've locked threads that have sensitive material as well as what has been bumped by trolls. If you are not the owner of a thread, and you bump a thread that hasn't been posted in for over a week, we can assume you are either 1. trolling or 2. mistaken about the date. So, unless the OWNER of the thread says it's ok for us to unlock it, it will be locked.
-
But that's too strict. We used to be able to bump threads for fun, to bring back memories or continue a conversation. Now bumping any thread means it's gonna be locked? Man that's stupid
-
That's not what it means, you're clearly over-exaggerating.
-
No because you say that bumping a thread is either 1) trolling or 2) bumped by accident. People like to bump things for fun too.
And fun doesn't equal trolling. -
Okay, so 3. for fun? idk man I was just saying what came in my mind lmao.
If it's a thread like "rate the user above" that gets bumped, then yeah, you can bump that. It won't be locked. If you bump a thread of sensitive information just "for fun" then no, you can't bump that. -
Please help ma posts keep going gray!!!!!

I think that a thread should be safely able to be bumped within the same amount of time that it takes to get it truly locked so long as they are truly adding to the conversation that had been posted about originally. Locking a thread from a few days ago is a little silly, in my opinion, unless it is being used to spam. I have bumped a few threads from over a week since the original date posted and have been able to actually continue a conversation. I get if you still lock it, it's your job and you are the moderator, but that is just a bit of my input.
-
Ahhh, see. A thread that was bumped from three days ago was locked to prevent bumping. My problem is that it was bumped by an individual involved in the thread. What is the point of locking it if it was bumped within a week and was continuing a conversation? I just find that irritably unreasonable.

If anything, I don't think the mods are locking ENOUGH threads. The very fact that we can post here at all proves that point.
-
^conclusion: mods are lazy
-
You can't have it both ways. "Locking too much.. But because we didn't lock a thread that has no reason to be locked, we're lazy"?
-
exactly what i was thinking
how can we can be lazy and not lock enough threads, but also be too strict and lock too many threads at the same time? -
^ its true.
Sorry Mini Minion, but its invalid. -
Look, one of us is wrong, and between me and you, Mini Minion is an idiot. She probably doesn't even know what a locked thread is. So the obvious conclusion is that you're not locking enough threads; including this one.
Really, if no one's posted in it in like, half an hour, just drop the hammer.
