Thread Topic: Suggestions.
-
I am intitled to my own suggestions, so I will get why you won't agree or you will agree because you're also intitled to your own perspectives.
We should have a box or board right under where you post or under each forum and it should say who's online or who's on GTQ. And also on our status, it should say if we're online or offline.
We should also have public and private threads. Public threads would be available and Private threads would be only for certain users that are allowed to access that thread by the person who is creating the private thread. Whoever isn't invited on the Private thread and tries to access it will only get a blank screen that has a notification explaining that it's a private thread. If they keep trying, they should get a penalty.
We should also be able to post youtube videos, like how we post pictures and gifs, but there should be a filter that looks through each source that you get the video from and if it goes against the guidelines, like if you try to post an EXTREMELY graphic p--- video from xvideos or p---hub, it won't allow you to and will notify you that you cannot simply cannot post that video due to it going against the set guidelines. Simple. -
Another one is that most Moderators are usually unactie and sometimes don't even do their jobs. This is where the power of assistant moderators or lower grade admins come. Like how a lawyer has a loyal and trustive assistant/secretary to do the work when they are busy or something. Lower grade admins or assitant moderators would be just like regular moderators you see sometimes daily, but with a little less power but enough skills to take over a moderators. The only thing is that the assistant moderator would be assigned to a certain moderator. If the moderator is currently on and running, the assistant moderator can notify the moderator of someone going against GTQ's guidelines and they can warn people, but the only thing is that they can't penalize someone. But if a moderator is off and has something really vital to do and won't be on for a long time or a extended amount of time to the point they can moderate, they can take the power from the moderator they were assigned and fill in their space.
Moderators should also be able to ban users, but must need a logical and reasonable probable cause to ban them, which would take a slow process to do, due for this power that can get out of hand and used improperly. When they attempt to ban a user, a description box pops up and asks Why are you banning? and you must give the username of the user you're banning, description on why you're banning them, and true evidence on why they must be banned. It would take a process of 24 hours and it would be sent to GTQ Guy, and if he approves, you will be notified automatically if you're a moderator and you will be able to ban them, and even permanently or temporary. -
This is proof that some of you spend way too much time here >.>
And you could have made that shorter and more to the point for GTQ Guy to read. You're a bit too waffley. -
B-but..
I like waffles.. -
1.) "Who's online"/active users box
2.) Private threads
3.) Embed YouTube videos
4.) assistant moderators?
5.) Moderators with the ability to ban/suspend accounts
If I have time before work later, I'll come back and subject you all to my opinions on this. -
Most of these ideas have been shot down numerously. Though, if you'd like, I'll give you my own perspective.
The box telling you who's online and who's not? Eeeehhh, sounds useful, but it'd take a little bit to code, you know? Also, what if people are stalking and don't want people to know that they're here? Idk.
In a way, this could be used as a form of harassment. If people are purposely shunning you away from their threads just to be smug and you're just trying to talk to them and/or apologize or make amends or just ask why they're being mean to you or something like that, and then you suddenly get penalized for it, how is that fair?
This may also be useful, but also difficult to code. I myself have no idea how one website can just look through another and detect bad things. I just...it's weird, you know? A lot of forums just have people post bad things and they get banned for it. I have no idea how a website just scans. But that's just me.
This sounds nice, it gives moderator substitutes and it would help keep things in order. The problem is, who would be fit to become an assistant moderator? And what about the super inactive moderators, like Keturah, Kish and Carri? If we give them assistant moderators and they never come on, would the assistant moderators be assistants forever? Or would those three get the boot and they're promoted and suddenly we have to bring in new assistant moderators?
I know all of the moderators are perfectly reasonable, but I'm not sure if they could be trusted with this type of power yet. They can still go power hungry and permanently ban someone when they did something worth being banned for a week. Or when banning permanently, they could ban the user for a year when the offense is probably worth a day. I just...I don't know about that one. -
*Or when banning temporarily, they could ban the user for a year when the offense if probably worth a day.
Oops. -
"It'd just take too long to code" - Every reason and/or part of every reason why helpful GTQ suggestions are shot down.
I'll input my own thoughts later. Playing Dark Souls. -
Reeve Cipher NewbieAlright, I've a bit of time now.
1.) I personally do a s--- ton of stalking here. I hardly feel like talking to people anymore, but I still make it my business to keep an eye on everything going on around here. I would hate for people to realize I'm there and actively try to guilt trip me into talking. Maybe this could be a thing, but I think people should have the option to appear offline.
2.) Private threads are cool. No one would interact with anyone else, but that's cool. One issue I have is that moderators can't help anything going on in a private thread.
3.) Unnecessary.
4.) That's stupid. Every user already has a lesser version of the power of a moderator.
5.) I really like this idea (temporary suspension, probably not banning) because sometimes deleting posts and slowing down post time isn't enough. Troll accounts will keep going anyway, and because the effectiveness of our pressing the button goes down as we continue, spam will continue to be dangerous for us. A person can make any number of accounts and use them all to troll. Naturally, there comes the question of our ability to responsibly use this power, but that's a trust thing, and nothing I can say is going to influence how anyone thinks we would handle having that power. So you know. Just do your thing. -

As I can already not take this seriously, I'll leave the rest of that s--- to the rest of you to read. -
If you're going to disregard entire posts due to bad spelling, you're going to get left out of a lot of s---.

We should also have a poke button.
