Thread Topic: Excuse me, GoToQuiz Guy

It's been a while since I've given my viewpoint on mods. It's also been a few weeks since GTQ guy has made a noticeable impression on the populace. I would like to once again suggest the idea of having a select few GTQ members be moderators.
I come on here every night and I see more and more of rude and vulgar users, spamming forums and insulting others simply because there is no one here regularly enough to do anything about it.
I beg you, please let us have mods. You are a single person, and there are many of us who want to help make GTQ a better site again. Simply put, please give a few members that you see fit, the limited abilities to enforce GTQ rules.
Thank you for your time and patience. -
Agreed.
-
Pleaase. You've been more active lately. You must be seeing these. Please do something, GTQ Guy.
-
I really do agree.
As gtqguy is busy and cant run the site on a constant basis,
So I feel the use of moderators would boost the site's sense of discipline and morale. -
Not a new topic but we should really give this idea a test run.

I like the idea of moderators (although keep in mind having moderators can cause its own drama!). I would have to create the moderator functions, though. I just need some time to devote to doing that.
What should moderators be able to do? Should each forum have its own? What about moderators abusing their power? -
It should depend on what sort of moderator they are (kinda like different levels/statuses of moderators). The lower level moderators should only be able to edit/delete posts a certain number of times per day while the higher level moderators should be able to edit and delete posts as well as temporarily ban/give warnings to accounts.
Some forums should have its own if they are big and popular enough (e.g. Lounge, Study, Stage, Front Porch) while the other small forums should be put together in their own category.
Now this is the issue that will never probably happen but there could be a solution to it. Just make the 'Feedback and Updates' forum mod-free so that people could complain about mod-abuse. Another idea is a 'report user' button which just reports them.
The only thing that is missing is who is going to become moderators? -
SecretCrocodile NewbieAll '09ers for sure. All of them are level headed.
-
Moderators abusing their power should be reported by other moderators and given a vote as to whether they lose the privelege.
Moderators should be able to monitor threads for innapropriate content, warn/ban users who break the the rules.
And I think one moderator should be for all forums, since ones like 'the garden' dont get very many hits. -
*doesnt; pardon my french.
-
Also, to add to what everyone is saying..
Before a mod makes a big decision of banning someone or making another mod lose their power, there should really be a function where there needs to be a certain number of other Mods that agree to the decision so that it'll be granted. You know, there might be that moment where a Mod acts due to their own feelings more than to reason. It's possible.
I think that as mods, they should have the power to delete posts, threads, and ban people whether it be temporarily or permanently.
I personally don't like the idea of having a specific set of mods for them to only have power to one forum, because there's the possibility some mods might disappear, you know.. Though, if that should become a thing, the amount of moderators should be based on how active the forum is.
Now, this is where I volunteer as tribute.
