Thread Topic: I cannot download pdfs from the internet

I press 'Open' and then it says it's downloading (at the bottom of the screen). But it now fails to download and open. Instead it says 'Select the encoding that makes your text readable' and has the options to click that are: 'Windows (Default)', 'MS-DOS', 'Other encoding'. Under these headings are languages but none have English as an option it appears and the languages are symbols (not actual letters or Japanese symbols as an example). I have also tried pressing 'Save As' instead of 'Open' but the exact same problem happens....
If you have any idea of what may be wrong please, please help. I have now been trying to fix it for about 3 hours -
Probably when you do that, you should just press Windows, since it's the one it would go to if it didn't ask (default) so, eh
