ill draw smth else once i get an actual idea 😭😭

3/4 perspective is so hard omg
tryna learn the ropes of 3d art bc ive made the mistake of wallowing in 2d art n not practicing perspectives 😭 also testing vanishing points n a combined notion of soft shading n cell shading bc in most of the gobsmacking flabbergasting shellshocked arts my eyes have completely obliterated to smithereens , they have soft shading n cell shading -
i needa design sum ocs n start drawing smth other than what i normally draw lolol , im holding back progress by doing it
so i sketched sum cartoon characters bc i wanna go 4 a more cartoony feel n implement it into my art style since it’s still developing :] i should work on experimenting w shapes n character designs 4 now bc i have like 0 unique characters lolol -
think im set firm on what ill do once i drop out of highschool , ill probs work on saving up to go to college to get a bachelors degree in some classes related to art n computer science bc i wanna start learning to animate professionally
ofc i gotta study the basic principles of motion beforehand n at least have an idea of it , so im working on it ^ im well aware it’s not point a to point b , it’ll take time to get it down bc animation isn’t like art ; it’s not one singular illustration , it’s implementing motion n SEVERAL illustrations into one illustration -
happi !! i keep getting compliments on my works n progress , some ppl told me imma go far in life if i keep it up :] i actually feel confident for the first time . im genuinely proud of myself 4 coming this far n making it here ; younger me would have never even dreamed of this path , yet here i am contemplating it
i was always more so interested in the topics of creativity , art , aspirations , fundamentals , writing , poetic phrases , quotes from benjamin franklin , etc. when i was younger , i thought id become an author since it was the first interest i discovered as a kid and i started writing stories when i was around four , plus ppl would be rlly encouraging n tell me i was a prodigy at it
however i feel like as a child grows , we discover certain capabilities n qualities that resonate or sit well w us. we go through the stages of life n discover what we’re good at n what we’re not . i believe your prior interests as a kid has to do w ur true talents as u grow older , bc each of us have an individual (or copious) gifts . unfortunately a lot of ppl don’t embrace it , ending in the sad lives some live , such as working in a retail office and dreaming of working on a farm , though you don’t take the first step towards grasping that dream
haha i jus rambled , should probs take this to the study instead of my workshop thread but tbh im rlly attached to this thread 😭 -
id luv reqs , maybe ill open sum reqs soon :] don’t believe ive done any in recent years
-
putting this here 4 me 4 a bit later :)
character design
shapes are how your characters are portrayed by audience n seen from the outwardly appearance
there are three main shapes when designing ; circles , squares , n triangles
circles
Characters that incorporate more circular shapes are often seen as approachable, cute, friendly, and harmless. You will often see circles used in the designs of protagonists, maternal caregivers, young children, and pets, signifying to the audience that these characters are kind and trustworthy.
TL;DR : circles portray kindness , harmlessness , n a soft appearance , giving the audience an idea that they can trust the individual harboring the circular appearance
squares
Square shapes in a character’s design are used to signify that a character is strong, sturdy, reliable, supportive, and stubborn. This is why these shapes are also often seen in protagonists, paternal caregivers, protectors, and any other characters that provide a supportive role.
squares portray sturdiness , a firm demeanor , reliable in efforts , and it gives the audience an impression that this is a strong , stubborn individual harboring the square-like appearance
triangles
Acting as almost the direct opposite of circle shapes, triangles are used to convey that a character is dangerous, evil, unpredictable, and smart. Among the three shapes, triangles are known to communicate the most malice and aggression; they are predominantly used for antagonist character designs.
triangles portray a malicious or untrustworthy character with hidden intentions to the audience , automatically making them assume the character to not be trusted due to its sharp appearance
