Because I literally suck at it
Like it's not even funny
I try to draw a simple dog and it ends up looking like a frickin mutant dinosaur
And I'm kind of tired of just accepting that I'm bad at something and not even trying to get better
But if I'm completely hopeless then I guess I'll have to do that
So any tips from people who have more skill and practice than me? I have tried just about all the basic "how to draw like a pro in three easy steps" books and they are complete garbage for a loser like me. -

I know that answer sounds lame but trust me, it's true
years of practice and studying the world -
Like Seth said, to get practiced/ experienced you need to get that experience. Don't worry, you can, and will get better. Don't get discouraged. :)

Practicing and using references are the easiest way to improve :) It might take you time to reach a level where you're satisfied but don't let that discourage you!

These people are right, the more you do it the better you get. Yeah, for awhile what you draw is going to look like garbage, but you don't have to show anyone, it's just practice until you've trained yourself to do it well enough that your comfortable showing it to people and getting their advice.
