"Did you draw that?"
"I can't even draw a stick figure."
"Nice."
"Looks great."
"You draw better than me."
"That looks like ______ from _______."
"I wish I had your talent."
"How do you draw so well?" -
so genuine compliments? :')
-
"can you draw me?"
-
Nah. I will explain.
"Did you draw that?"
This one bugs me whenever I literally have my supplies out. Of course I drew it. How else would it get there?
"I can't even draw a stick figure."
Well, that's actually all you really need. Stick figures are just small guidelines too. All you literally have to do is add more defined shapes and continue from there. Anyone can do stick figure.. It's just a circle with lines attached. I think it's silly when people say this.
"Nice."
It may sound like a compliment, but I take it as a "oh cool you drew something, moving on" kind of thing. I took time to draw or do whatever I did and all I get is a blunt "Nice". The way it looks makes it seem like its not genuine at all.
The same with "Looks great". These sayings makes me feel like I'm brushed off.
"You draw better than me"
Pretty much putting down your own work by comparing it to my work. Everyone start of differently and are at different skill levels. So there are going to be people who have more advanced looking work than you do, sure. But they got there because they practiced.
"That looks like _____ from _____."
Not only is it frustrating, but it just makes my work look unoriginal when it's conpared to other existing characters/artwork.
"I wish I had your talent."
Is that all you want? Just my talent? Pretty much feels like you don't like my artwork, but just the talent behind it.
"How do you draw so well?"
I practiced. That's all, lol. -

ohhh okay
xD I just got confused -
"Can you draw me?" is like.. the top saying to trigger an artist. xD
But for me, it doesn't bother me because I like doing portraits and stuff. But I have a feeling it'll soon bug me when I start commisons. xP
Yeah, I should've explained, sorry. xD -
but to be honest, I don't find a problem with any of those things
:') I guess it depends on the artist though, I guess?
"did you draw that"?
it depends on the situation
"I can't even draw a stick figure"
they aren't being literal, they were indicating that they can't draw for their life and have no practiced skill to draw
"nice"
it means it looks nice
"you draw better than me"
that's a no-brainer
you, in fact, probably do
or you don't
who knows?
you even said it yourself, that people are on different "skill levels", therefore implying that one can draw better than another
"this looks like _ from this"
some things are unintentional, so of course there are going to be people referencing your work to another individuals product
this isn't always bad at all
mostly because we're exposed to things that we sometimes put into our artwork without knowing
(this makes no sense but-)
"i wish I had your talent"
that means they find your skill of creating interesting artwork is worthy to have
"how do you draw so well?"
again, curiosity
:3 You'll probably take my unnecessary response to offense, but it depends on how an artist handles simple things like that. -
I don't take it to offense, because like you said, it depends on the artist and how they take things. ^^
-
Something that ticks me off is when someone says to SOMEONE ELSE "He draws really well." or "I wish I could draw like that", or god-forbid "Look at his drawing."
And then they get offended when I kind of shield my drawings away. I just get shy, you know? -
^So, compliments towards your work really ticks you off?
But it gets real hilarious when you guys also get p---- when people don't give a s--- about it. -
Why are you getting so defensive/offended or whatever you want to call it towards what others don't like? That's them. If they don't like something, they don't like it. You don't have to go on and try to find every little thing to argue about. I didn't care about what you had to say about my post, but at this point, you're just trying to find something to blabber about just because of the "lulz" or because you legit have nothing better to do.
Don't act like nothing bothers you as an artist, or if you even are one, seeing as you're always saying you're done with art. That's cool. But let others express their feelings about the subject.
I find it funny because I saw this a few days ago:
Looks reaaaallly familiar, huh? Unless you changed your thought of that and actually care, then you have no room to talk, because you pretty much said the same thing before. -
I'm not as pretentious and retarded as the majority of the artists on this site. I also don't draw anymore because I was competent enough to know my art looks like a disabled person took over my mind. But logically, why are compliments towards your work that I am pretty sure you want to be appreciated "terrible" or "annoying"? One of your fans likes your art, so they spread and talk about it to another person so another can discover it for themselves and see if the fan's opinion of your work holds any technical merit. You all are just squeamish teenagers that take everything with a little grain of salt, as if it's nothing. That s--- can help you with your motivation. Critical criticism as well, like components of your work that doesn't hold up well.
Compliments is something that can help as well. Not everyone has to compliment it, but compliments are generally known to remark at something or someone positively, unless you know it is verbal irony. -
I am, but I am also offering my feelings on this as well, to say most of the reasons on here are inadequate with any logic behind it and sucks s---. The End.

2 years ago? As if that is relevant in my CURRENT feelings? Man, is this easy.
