Thread Topic: just gonna leave this here

I'd like to highlight the part where he shows how you can use one method of drawing in order to draw different things.
even if you are essentially "copying" at first, you are learning, just like when you learned to speak as a child.
or something like that
I know it's a long video, but it's a nice message. -
Copying isn't learning at all. I disagree.
-
And we've seen how far that mentality has gotten you.
-
Um, what?
For me personally, copying just doesn't really do anything. You're just copying another person's art style, not creating your own. -
This coming from the person who's always complaining that they can't improve.
Anyhow, learning various methods and techniques from various artists and styles can help one create their own unique style. You must learn how to draw something before you can add your own twist to it. -
*hasn't watched the video because youtube on laptop is being a dick*
I actually agree with Seth. At first, I seriously sucked at drawing. So, I started tracing just to get a feel for the art and things. Now, I'm moving onto copying others work (without calling it my own, of course) by looking at it rather than tracing it. here and there I'll add my own style to it, and I believe that I've gotten way better at it than I had before.
