I think that's wrong. I myself am an American manga-ka in training. :3 Think of it this way, rock and roll originated in America/England, so does that mean other countries can't make rock music? I can say that I've found many amazing musicians that are not from America.

anri hyuga Newbiei know!!!! but kids at my school dont know what a manga is. all they know about is sports illistrated and seventeen magizene. they also only read really small books . i can read the lost heros series in about a day!

That's just a fact of life, most people will only go towards what's at arms' length. If that's what they like, that's cool. Though I love searching for a lot of different, hidden treasures. :D

anri hyuga Newbieyeah your right. but alot of mt friends say anime is for stupid peole and i have to hide it from them. the bad thing is i cant enjoy it at school. also they have a proublem when people tell them the truth.

Well they sound pretty closed minded if they hold prejudice towards you just because you like something different. They could at least be tolerant. Don't let them stop you from being yourself, because it's much better to be who you are, and in time you'll make true friends.
