Not obsessed, it's just how it works sometimes with anime characters.
I only like certain pairings, not all yaoi. -

The appeal? I just like romance stories. x3 I've actually gotten into several more hetero pairings lately. I'm not obsessed with any of it though (anymore... xD).
I guess the reason I've always been more comfortable with yaoi is because a lot of shows and characters I like are mainly male. xP A lot of times guys are pretty laid back characters, or just funny and awesome. I've seen several instances where I think the relationships would work. Sure, all romance stories are just fantasy, and that's why I think it's annoying when some people go "OH DAT PAIRING CONTRADICTS MY OTFREAKINGP I HATE IT AND HATE YOU BLAH BLAH BLAH". Also, a lot of the fandom is nuts. o.o Not all, but a lot of it.
And to be honest, a lot of anime girls irritate me. xP Perhaps it's a stereotype, but a lot of them are just boobs, short skirts, and no brain. I can't stand that. My favorite female characters in any story aren't the mary sues, but the badass and smart kind.
So, yeah. I just like it. And it's fun when you have friends who like it and you can write stories together. It's not all about sex. If you ever read me and Mo's story, you'd know it's a real story, with romance elements very present, but not annoying. :3
