I did some serious research on this one, I thought my books from Mexico were outdated or something.. xP Nope. They're fine, after about a half hour of internet research, the books are right.
I did, however, previously know that Guatemala had asked for independence from Mexico, and Guatemala had been a part of Mexico, I just didn't know the WHOLE country was Mexico. xD
Anyway, here's the rather interesting story.

During the whole 'Mexican Empire' thing, (while Mexico was the 2nd biggest nation in the world) Guatemala had asked Mexico for independence. Mexico gave it to her without much hesitation. Right after that, Guatemala decides she loves Mexico and becomes one with him! From what the textbooks say, Mexico cared less. Was too busy with other crap (I think he was at war during the time. xP), so he was just "Whatever."

Mexico paid VERY little attention to Guatemala. Guatemala threatened Mexico and told him that if he did not pay attention to her, she's leave him. Once again, Mexico was too busy with other stuff. "Whatever."
I believe that during that year, Guatemala left Mexico. I'd need to go further into the subject to know as to how this happened, but this is as best as I can do for now.
Small history lesson, again! ^^

I mean seriously, this man messed up all the SalvaMexi and FranMexi for me now. XD
