Basically America helped Korea out a lot in the Korean war, where the south wanted independence. The north wanted to dominant the whole peninsula. This was in the 1950s. America has always supported them for help and still have troops there today in case the ceasefire between the north and south is disregarded by the north. I've looked up some stuff and found that South Korea has a high approval rating of the US, even more than in England I think. With each other's help South Korea has become a safe and highly functioning country in the world.
Idk, I just thought this was a bit more likely as a romance pairing.
