This quiz will help you better understand the political positions of the Latvian parties and see which ones do you agree with the most or the least. Parties in this quiz are currently polling at least 2% away from the 5% threshold.

Each question in the quiz is a yes-no question, you will have to choose not only your answer - yes or no - but also sometimes the motivation behind your answer.

  2. Should employers, including those self-employed, pay minimum state social insurance contributions of approximately 170 euros per month for every employee that receives less than the minimum wage?

  5. Political party ZZS is closely associated with an oligarch and a long-time mayor of Ventspils Aivars Lembergs. Lembergs' assets in the US have been frozen under Magnitsky Act and he cannot enter the United States. In 2021 he was convicted of bribery, money laundering, and abuse of office and sentenced to 5 years in prison. ZZS has compared the sentencing of Lembergs to the sentencing of Navalny. Should ZZS be included in the next government formation talks?
  6. Political party NA is widely seen as the most radical and right-wing major party in Latvia. Several of its members, including the current chairman Raivis Dzintars, have been members of neo-nazi movements in the past, although all of them have renounced their support since. NA also doesn't support the treaty which formally recognized Abrene as Russian territory and ended the border dispute between Russia and Latvia. Should NA be included in the next government formation talks?
  7. Political parties S and LKS are the two main parties representing the interests of the Russian-speaking minority in Latvia. Their political program is focused on providing more freedoms to the Russian-speaking community, providing a more official status for the Russian language, and improving the Latvian relationship with the Russian government. Most Latvian parties see S and LKS as national security threats that are too close to Putin's regime, and, indeed, in 2021 an S MP was arrested for espionage for Russia. The MP denies any wrongdoing and S says that the investigation is politically motivated. Should S and LKS participate in the next government formation talks?
  8. Do you approve of the government reform that reduced the number of municipalities from 119 to 43?
  9. Latvia currently has on average 12 students per teacher in school. However, there is a big difference between schools in big cities, where classes with more than 30 students are common, and rural areas, where some schools struggle to find 5 students for a class and a qualified teacher to teach them. Should the government continue to push for the closing of some of the rural schools?
  10. One-third of Latvians speak Russian at home, however, after an education reform finished during the KuĊĦinskis government in 2018, all schools in Latvia will have to teach their students in the Latvian language. Do you support the reform?
  11. Do you support municipalities closing down all the casinos on their territories?
