According to the CDC website, the prevalence of obesity in 2017-2018 was 42.4%, a marked increase from the prevalence of 30.5% in 1999-2000. With the high prevalence and the upward trend, as clinicians we will undoubtedly treat people in larger bodies throughout our careers. In order to give the best possible care to our patients we must acknowledge and assess our personal bias and work toward ameliorating the stigma our clients may face in our practice.
