Survival Part 1

Quiz Image

Alright. This is important stuff to begin understanding the series so please read! You do not know everything yet and will learn as you go, piecing things together and whatnot. However, in the below paragraph I will give the basics and background! Earth held a nuclear war finally because of power hungry politicians throughout the world. However, a select group of strong men and women managed to leave the dying planet and reach another that's conditions were identical if not healthier than the old planet. The size of this planet was three times the size of Earth. The human race began to rebuild here. They named it Terrafa

For a generation or two all was well. They learned that many creatures were the same as Earth, only, many new species were identified. Some dangerous, others not. But a plague hit the colonization and chaos erupted. The plague oddly enough only affected the women. Most died from this. Soon men argued over the remaining women and broke of into tribes that would grow into kingdoms. These were known for the abuse given to the women. So many women sought out refuge into the surrounding landscape. One of these was your grandmother though you never knew her. The men have hunted these down until only few remain in freedom. One of these is you.

  1. What is your age?
  2. What is your gender?
  1. I strung up my bow. Closing my eyes and breathing slowly, I aimed. My eyes shot open, but before I could shoot, something in the distance disturbed my prey. It was Bo. He trotted up to me seemingly thrilled to see me. I shook my head and ruffled his forelock. I had found him as a colt after his mom was killed by some predator. I couldn't bear to leave him, so I raised him, even though it was a lot of trouble. Now, he's my most useful tool, and my only friend. He was a fjord, a funny kind of horse, but reliable and sturdy. Even though Bo is a stallion and should have his own herd, he's never left my side. Even though he may have scared away my lunch, I couldn't be mad at him. On his back I had fashioned a strap from leather. This strap holds all of my materials when we were on the move. Currently in a forest, it was easy for me to hide these. I put my bow and arrows on my back and mounted his back. I hold his mane for balance and tell him where to go with leg pressure. We weaved through the trees and brush. We came to a small tree with a small hollow at it's base. I dismounted and retrieved all of my materials from the hollow. I clipped it all to the strap and mounted again. This time we loped through the forest, I try to always continue moving, otherwise it'd be all too easy for men to find me. I'd rather stay out of the radar.
  2. We loped for hours, chasing the sun. The forest around me was quite because of the commotion Bo makes. The trees towered above us, no possibility of climbing one for the night. As the sun set an eerie glow set within the forest. We slowed to a stop and I dismounted. Bo was barely sweating, he could go at a full gallop for the full time we loped, a truly powerful beast. I walked forward silently, Bo did not move, knowing the drill. I walked surveying the area. The forest noise began to swell around me again once they deemed it safe. I came to a tree with large roots splaying all around it. I investigated the entire tree and the surrounding wildlife. When nothing seemed threatening to me I imitated a bird song. Soon I could hear Bo's hoofs crunching through the trees towards me. I finished the song and a moment later Bo appeared. He looked around wearily, looking for something I've missed. When he came to me I knew he found nothing. I took from his back the strap and all of my things. I set up a small sleeping area and a small fire without smoke. I've learned that without fire I can not survive, but the smoke is just like a giant announcement of my existence. I soon mastered creating fire with materials that makes no smoke. I left Bo to guard the temporary camp site so I could hunt for a meal. I wore no shoes so that I can make no sound when I move. My bow and arrow ready for a quick shot. My ears listening to every sound around me, I was just as a feline. I wore a black long sleeved shirt that hugged my body, my shorts were very short and of the same material. I often reminded myself of a cat my mother told me stories of, something called a panther. I halted in my tracks. Before me was a silver thick liquid. 'Screecher.' I thought. This was a strong rodent like creature with long legs and claws. They are truly gruesome creatures and I hated them, but they served a great meal. This one was injured, but most likely in the trees above me. My arrow immediately pointed to what was above me. Their claws were tipped in poison, I did NOT want to deal with that injury. These were violent creatures that I would try and avoid, but because of my missed lunch, I needed the sustenance. Somewhere above me I heard the unmistakable cry of the screecher. I quickly found it's location. It hadn't noticed me for it was being chased off by a couple of eagles. I took this as a great opportunity to do this with as little mess as possible. I aimed and took my shot. Bulls-eye! I watched it tumble to the ground with my arrow sticking from it's chest. I always made little suffering as possible and always shot to kill instantly. It hit the ground with a great thud.
  3. I walked over to the dead animal and took from it my arrow. I issued a quick thanks to the spirit that gave me it's life. Even though I may hate the creature, a life is a life. I swung the ugly thing over my shoulder and carefully but quickly made my way back. Bo sat there waiting for me, his ears forward and he nickered, glad to see me back safely. I took the screecher and skinned it. I carefully removed all of the poisonous glands located around it's body. I cooked it and ate it after adding a few flavorings from plants I've collected along my way. Once my stomach was full, I stored the rest in case I miss another meal. I doused the fire and left only coals for heat. I lied my head on Bo's shoulder, and slowly drifted to sleep.
  4. I slept lightly and without dreams, ready to immediately react if a danger became apparent. I'd always wake up at least twice a night, either out of habit or something was loud enough to jolt me from sleep. However, I slept fairly well last night. When I woke up the sun was shining above me. I jumped up and looked around in surprise. I never woke up this late, either I woke on my own or Bo woke me, of which, he remained in slumber. I was unnerved. 'This is wrong. So wrong.' Nothing out of the ordinary ever happened unless something that was against my well being was about. I spread the coals around watching flames begin in the brush. I shook Bo from his dreams and gathered all of my things. I rid of the remaining schreecher meat, someone must have drugged it. That would explain it's injury. Bo seemed unsettled by how he had woken so late, and I could relate. A hunter must be out there looking for me. I wouldn't know how my presence would have been detected, but it was. I strapped everything to Bo and mounted him. We rode from the growing fire in a hurry.
  5. (HUNTER'S POV) I knew she was out there. A scout had alerted my king that a woman, a real woman, was lurking in the forest. I followed the screecher, which was easy for it was loud and left a trail of it's unnatural silvery blood. I was the best hunter in all of Terrafae. I walk silently as if I was merely a whisper of wind. I was concealed within camouflage unmatched. My arrows the quickest and truest out there. I was one of the deadliest weapons my King held within his grasp. A fact I took pride in. Off in the distance I recognized the screams of eagles, the stupid screecher must have come too close to a nest. However, the screams ended before they should have. This is a great sign. She must have been hunting like I predicted, the drug I had inserted she will soon consume. I came to a point in the trail where the screecher obviously fell from the towering trees. I smiled with relief, I recognized the path of nothing other than a human. The moon stood high in the sky by this point and I should hurry if I was to make it before the drug lost it's effect. I tried my best to do this, but it was extremely difficult. The girl was tremendous at traveling without leaving a track, no wonder she's been elusive to all men for so long. So few women remained without a home among the halls of a kingdom. 'Or dungeons.' I noted with disgust. Women were beautiful beings that should be treated with luxury and respect. It's sad that my kingdom is the only one to practice this. No wonder women tried their best to stay beyond reach of the men. Almost all were corrupt and abusive. My mind left the topic and returned to the task at hand. Every woman was valuable and I couldn't afford to lose this one, it's been so long since we've found a young woman within the woods. This was before my hunting years. This makes her the first woman I was to track down and return with. I finally came to a campsite at the break of dawn, but a new problem arouse. The horse. No one had said anything about a horse. This would cause a whole new set of problems. This horse was not immense in size, but that did not matter. I could easily recognize the tremendous power his muscles held. This must be partially why she's made it so long without home. I knew the moment I moved the girl he would react and I'd have to fight off a raging horse and keep the woken girl from escaping. Oh... the girl... It's been too long since I've held the luxury of seeing a beautiful girl my age. She looked peaceful, even though she was obviously not the type. Her legs were long and flawless uncovered for she wort short shorts. She was of fair complexion and her curves were hypnotizing. Her eyelashes were so long and dark I could see them from my hiding spot. Her long blonde hair was put into a braid, it looked like gold under the light of the sun. The muscles hidden beneath her amazing skin were unmistakably well used and strong. I couldn't move, she was something I wouldn't be able to imagine even in my most fantastical of dreams.
  6. I shook my head and returned my head to my task at hand. I looked at the situation again, this is something I will have a hard time working around. I would fight the horse off, but the drugs effects were not strong enough to keep her under while the battle raged, otherwise she'd notice it within her first bite and leave immediately. I couldn't shoot the horse in a fatal location, both her body and the roots of the tree prevented this. My only chance was to drug the horse along with the girl. I took a vial from my pack and emptied the contents onto a cloth. I crept towards the pair. I slowly came to the horse and dripped, slowly so the horse would not wake, the liquid onto his lip. Every time the horse flinched I tensed, but would soon subside. After I applied enough I retreated back to my original point. I watched until the sun was above our heads. I readied myself for in a moment I would go to retrieve her for the king. I stepped into sight when I watched in horror as her eyes darted open. I silently returned to my spot and watched with dread as she shot up and looked around, probably feeling the same as I do now. I slowly and quietly put an arrow into my bow so as not to attract her attention. I was ready to turn violent, though, I would never seriously injure her. Even if I was ordered to do this I wouldn't ever be able to bring myself to. I aimed, but again in horror, I watched as she probably made the smartest choice she could. She spread the coals and started a fire. This not only effected my aim, but prevented me to come to retrieve her physically. I narrowed my eyes to see as the fire growed. She woke her horse and retrieved her materials. She mounted the damn horse and rode from my reach. I lowered my arrow. I then turned and sprinted back to my king. This is not something I could handle alone without hurting her. She is extremely intelligent, and I need help. But now that I've seen her beauty, I will never let her go.
  7. (MY POV) We ran as the fire grew behind me. I hated to resort to such drastic measures but I would not afford getting caught. I've had close calls before, but nothing like this. I recalled with a shiver my mother's downfall... that would not happen to me. I continued with renewed strength and felt Bo's hoofs trample all that was under us. At a lope our tracks could be mistaken for something such as deer, but at a gallop like this, we were obviously a horse and rider. Eventually, I would continue to be careful about our tracks, but now I need distance. After an hour or so of this I allowed Bo to slow to stop for rest. I knew he could go on for much longer and wanted to, but I didn't know what lied ahead of me and I was not willing to drain his energy in the case of need for it. He caught his breathe and grazed for a small time. I was angry with my hair for being in my way and put it up. My mother hated my long hair, and I knew she was right, I should cut it. It's only a burden. But I could never bring myself to cut it. I watched as Bo made his way to a small stream to drink. A good idea. I approached and drank besides him. Lowering my face to the water refreshed my senses and I began to think without the clouding of fear again. I looked around and decided that I needed to stock up a bit on resources. I filled my jugs with water, and brought down five nearby birds who had the misfortune of believing that it was safe once more. I muttered a thank you with each kill. I searched the nearby brush for berries and I found some blue berries. I ate these and watched the wall of flame approaching me. I had a moment of rest before I'd be worried, but I knew that I was lucky with the birds. Prey will be hard to find for a while with the scare of the fire. I mounted Bo and we continued at a lope, watching for any sign of danger the entire time.
