  1. You see the brilliance of the night sky and say to her “the only thing that matters is surviving the burden I’m in… because I already survived them. I need to focus on surviving myself” you say holding the caramel scented key close to your heart you look right at Carol “I need answers, and no guy can distract me from the truth as long as I live. Information right now is life or death… everything is life or death... everything” you say gripping the key tighter. Carol looks at you silently, unable to answer the horrible truth brought to her ears. After a long period of silence she finally speaks “You know, I was pretty scared when those guards came. Freaking out really, I mean they had guns and everything! Tanks, helicopters, bombs, an army-“ “Yeah I know Carol, I was there too” you interrupt. “Oh right, well the thing is… I’m glad that we’re alive and all. I’ve never felt so happy about being… well ALIVE. First time I’ve really felt that way. It just goes to show you, always count your blessings.” She says. You smile “yeah, I guess you’re right about that. We ARE alive, and we’re together” you hug her and she hugs you right back. “So, what do you think the guys are buying?” you ask. “I have no idea, some might buy things we actually need-“ “Warren” you interrupt. “True and some might buy junk food…” she stops talking and you both look at each other smiling “DEVIN” you both say at the same time. You both laugh and you slowly forget the troubles that have been bothering you. “Hey you know what, let’s spy on them!” she says excitedly. You shake your head, “No way, what about the car?” you ask. “Who is awake at this time of night?” she asks. “I don’t know” you answer. “Exactly, come on!” she gets out of the car and runs over to the window secret agent style. You shake your head but come anyways. “Carol, this is crazy-“ “SHUSH! I want to see what they’re getting!” she says peeking into the window.
  2. You look into the window as well and immediately see Seth looking at some movies. You see he’s looking at a lot of science fiction ones, mainly the ones that have to do with time travel. “What’s he doing?” Carol whispers. “I think he’s doing research… for me” you say blushing. Carol nudges you, “Earth to _______, Devin at three ‘o’ clock” she says. You look to the right and see he’s picking out several packs of gum and holding a five dollar bill. “I knew it” Carol mutters. You raise an eyebrow, “What you don’t like gum?” you ask. “No it’s not that, girls are looking at them” she points out. You try to rip your gaze away from Devin and see some girls drooling over him. “Oi vey, are they in for a shock” you say smiling. “What do you mean?” she asks. “That Devin lives with two other girls” you say. “Puh-lease. He’s all over YOU not me. I saw you two, heck I even have a video. Would you like a refresher?” she asks. “No I’m good” you say still looking at the other girls. Two of them are really looking at him, even winking at him a few times. One has really short blonde hair and plain brown eyes with a white and pink tank top, a pink skirt, and hot pink sneaker heels. The other has waist length blonde hair and deep blue eyes with a white and sky blue tank top, a blue skirt, and matching blue strap heels. Other than their hair and outfits, they looked like identical twins. “They look like they’re asking for trouble, you want to intervene?” Carol asks. “Like a bunch of Miley Cyrus wannabes can scare me. They’re just wasting their time” you say crossing your arms. “Suit yourself” Carol shrugs. You glare at them angrily as they literally try to do EVERYTHING to get his attention. “There’s still time…” “NO they don’t bother me” you snap back. “Okay” Carol replies. It’s only until the one with the long hair starts walking over to him that you crack and head for the front door. “Don’t try and stop me Carol” you tell her as you storm away from her. Carol follows behind loyally, “Why would I ever stop you? You’re protecting your guy” “I said I wasn’t sure if he’s my guy yet. I just don’t want those tarts to mess with him” you say.
  3. You open the doors and walk over to Devin. The girl gives you a dirty look but you ignore her. “Hey Devin, what ‘cha getting?” you ask. “The basic necessities” he replies waving your favourite gum brands in front of you. “Oh my gosh, how did you know these were my favourite?” you ask. “Really? They’re my favourite!” he says amazed. You look out of the corner of your eye and see the girl going over to her twin whispering something. You look back at Devin and forget all about them. “So are you getting ALL of these?” you ask. “no I’m only allowed to get five” he says. You shrug, “Well I’m just going to wait outside” you give him a kiss on the cheek and skip away not even bothering to see the girls shocked faces. You look back and see Carol looking through a magazine and you pull her outside. “Oh my gosh Carol I feel awesome” you say. “Why?” she asks. “I just schooled some girls without even talking to them” you say excitedly. “Now THAT’S talent” Carol says amazed. “Well it just goes to show you, actions speak louder than words” you say smiling proudly.

Just then you see all the guys coming out of the store, “hey guys, what’s up?” you ask. “Well we got everything for now, but we’re going to have to find a place for the night” Warren says putting the stuff in the trunk. “Yeah about that, what options do we have?” you ask. “Well option one, sleep in the cars. Option two, find a cheap motel” Warren lists off. “If we go with the car, can I sleep next to ______?” Devin asks. You swat his arm “you’re pushing your luck Devin” you say crossing your arms. “That’s right Devin, the girls would sleep in Seth’s car and we’d sleep in my car IF we went with the option” Warren says narrowing his eyes at Devin. “Right, got ‘cha” Devin says nodding. “How much money we got left?” you ask. ”Not much, I think we might have to go with the car option” Warren says. “Well we’d better park somewhere safe, somewhere with lots of people. That way no one would attack us at night” Noah suggests. “Good idea, let’s go to the trailer park” Warren says getting in the front seat of his car. You get into Seth’s car this time with the others going into Warren’s car.
  5. Seth follows Warren’s car while driving you. You’re both silent and you’re looking out the window. You start to twirl your hair nervously and you decide to break the ice (because you know he won’t) “Hey Seth, what did you get from the store?” you ask even though you have an idea. “I got some science fiction movies, for research. I remember when I discovered I had powers that I looked up lots of movies with people who had water powers or telepathy powers. My favourite out of all of them is definitely Percy Jackson, although they got a lot of things wrong in the movie. I still like it though” he says relaxed. You notice he’s saying more than usual since it’s just you two and you can’t help but smile at the fact that he feels comfortable around you. “It’s pretty nice when you talk a lot. I don’t hear you speak your mind when you’re with everyone else.” You admit. He blushes a bit, but doesn’t say anything. “You know when we were back at the mansion… and you played your song. I thought to myself, ‘Seth is a nice guy, there’s no way someone mean would do something so nice for someone else.’ You shouldn’t hate yourself for what you did Seth. Mistakes happen” you say looking at him. He blushes harder and you decide to be quiet for the rest of the ride. To your surprise he speaks “How did you know I was thinking of that? I’m the one with telepathy” he jokes a little. You chuckle a bit “Yeah… hey Seth can I ask you something?” you ask. “Okay” he says. “Can I have a rain check for that kiss from earlier?” you ask blushing. He chuckles a bit “I hoped you’d ask that” he admits.
  6. You smile and look out the window. You see the trailer park, and it’s full of trailers. “Well, there’s no way they’d be able to find us here” you say. “I hope they don’t. Heck I don’t even know who’s after you! It’s just so bloody frustrating sometimes” Seth says scowling. “I know, at least we’re safe though. It’s like Carol says, always count your blessings” you say. He nods and parks beside Warren. “I hope you sleep well” is all Seth says before getting out and going into Warren’s car.
  7. You wave and see Carol coming towards you. “Okay, so Warren got some blankets from the store and pillows. We also have water, fruit, and some granola bars in case we get hungry” Carol lays the stuff out as best she can in the car and you help her. “So what was it like driving with all the guys?” you ask. “Fine, we all chewed the gum Devin bought and we tried to see who could blow the biggest bubble” she says casually. “Who won?” you ask. “Noah, although I was pretty close to winning” she says putting her hands on her hips proudly. “I came in a close second, very close second. Oh well, what happened with you and Seth?” she asks. You chuckle nervously “Well we talked a bit…” you bite your lip and see Carol smiling mischievously. “Did you kiss him?” she asks. “No, we had a mature discussion. About… things” you say. She rolls her eyes, “Things? You’ve got to be more specific” she says. “Well we talked about the… you know the army and all.” You say. “That’s all?” Carol asks. “Hey, you don’t need to know EVERYTHING” you say shoving her a little. “I know, I just try to see how much you’ll actually tell me” she says playfully. You laugh, “Well my life is pretty interesting at this point” you say. “I know right! This is exactly like something you’d read about online” she says. “Yeah, except without the trailer park” you say glumly. “Hey, we’ll get through this. I could get a job or something. I am the only person who isn’t being hunted down right now” she says. You smile weakly, “It’s not that. I just miss my old life. I mean, you’re the closest thing I’ve got to normal right now” you say. “Well that’s too bad because I’M INSANE” she crosses her eyes and says random words like “Glue sticks, bunnies, basketballs, CURSE YOU UNCULTURED SWINE!” you laugh in hysterics at her burst of randomness. You suddenly join in with the insanity saying whatever comes to your head. Soon you both can’t say anything because you’re laughing so hard. You look at the time and see it’s around 3:30. “Hey Carol, we should go to sleep” you say. “Okay, nighty night _____” she says lying on her back. “Nighty night Carol” you reply. She falls asleep first but you can’t help but fear going to sleep. You grip onto your caramel scented key and sniff it deeply. It calms you down and you finally drift off to sleep.
  8. (me: it's optional, but turn on "The Dark Knight Rises Soundtrack - Ending Credits" for an extreme experience) The mansion, standing peacefully on the hilltop beckons you. You blink away the precious sunlight gazing down on the mansion’s awe-inspiring beauty. You feel like hugging it, but then you see your parents. You haven’t seen them in days! They’re smiling at you from the balcony happily waving at you; you wave back and feel the sudden urge to celebrate. You see the guys coming from the front door waving at you, and Carol running towards you from the majestic garden. You feel like crying, not out of sadness but out of pure happiness. The mansion is back, you’re parents are back, everything is perfect. Carol hugs you and you both laugh together as you head for the door.
  9. All the people you feel comfortable with. All the people you feel safe with. All the people you love with all your heart are by the glorious mansion waiting for you to come to your home, your sanctuary, your beacon of hope, your mansion of happiness. You feel grateful for everyone, you feel like the luckiest girl in the world as you feel the love and joy spreading through your body. The guys all smile at you, Carol is laughing along with you, and you finally feel at home. You finally feel at peace, sweet, blissful, glorious, peace. Something you haven’t felt for a long time. The feeling makes you feel power, not the kind that turns back time, but the power of love, the strongest power in the world. You look to the sky with love in your heart and know that this moment is perfect.
  10. Suddenly the dreaded beeping noise rises from the inside of the mansion and it explodes. You feel the force push you back and you land on the grass coughing out dust. You look up and see everyone you love dead. You stand up and run over to the bodies tears flooding your vision but you see Carol’s once bright eyes are now cold and dead. Warren’s face so covered in dirt you can barely see him. Devin buried under rocks you see the pool of blood gathering underneath him. You see Seth’s mouth closed tight, not a single sweet note from his soft voice to be sung ever again. Noah’s body lies facing down, but you can’t stand looking at anymore of your closest friends lying dead around you.
  11. You hear the sharp cutting blades of a helicopter and hear the man’s voice echoing in your head “WE FOUND HER WE FOUND HER WE FOUND HER WE FOUND HER” you cover your ears as the grating sound brings you to your knees. You try to grab your key, but it’s buried with the mansion. The soldiers grab you by the arms and drag you to their van. You try to struggle, but you mind replays your friends dead corpses and it only makes you feel weaker and weaker. Handcuffs are put on you and you don’t even bother looking at the soldiers snickering at you. You feel your arms screaming in pain as they drag you from the van to a massive building. Looking at it, you feel like you’re entering a prison. You’re wrong though, because instead of a cell, you’re put in a laboratory and you’re strapped to a table. An intense light blinds you hanging from over your head, it looks exactly like the light you were trying to get in your other nightmare. You feel the dreaded heat sink into your skin, mocking you once again only this time it feels like it's laughing at you. Yet, all you can hear is the snap of rubber gloves being put on. “What are you going to do to me?” you ask as bravely as you can, tears silently dropping from your cheeks. “Don’t you worry pumpkin, we’re just doing a little brain dissection. You won’t remember a thing” a cheerful woman’s voice replies. You suddenly feel cold and your eyes close from the needle injected in your arm. The last thought that crosses your mind is...
  12. You wake up sitting upright from your nightmare. You start to breathe slower and calm down. You look at your arm and you see there’s no marks indicating that you’ve had a needle. You sigh in relief that it was all just a dream, but like your last one it felt completely real. You look at Carol sleeping like a rock and start to cry tears of joy. You get out of the car to clear your head, the cold chills up your spine but you don’t care. “Carol’s not dead, The guys aren’t dead, my parents aren’t dead, I’m not dead. Those are my blessings for tonight” you say to yourself.(me: Okay, you can turn off the music now)
  13. You try to stop crying but your tears have a mind of their own. You hear someone else breathing and you freeze. You walk around to the back of Warren’s car and see Warren staring straight ahead at the horizon. “Why are you up?” he asks not even looking at you. You run over to him and hug him tightly and cry uncontrollably. He blinks in shock but hugs you back. It takes over five minutes for you to finally calm down. You look up at him “I had the worst nightmare. You, Carol, my parents, and the rest of the guys DIED right in front of me. I couldn’t even see your face, it was covered in dirt! I couldn’t look anyways, I don’t want to see you dead” you say to him not letting him go. “Warren I’m so scared, I can’t take this.” You whisper to him “I’m trying I really am but every night I feel like my life could end at any moment. I can take death, I can, but I can’t take the sight of your dead body lying in front of me. I just CAN’T” he rubs your back soothingly and looks at you. “_______, it’s hard. I said that the moment you met me, and I would never lie to you. But you can’t give up… I’ve always had faith in you and I always will. It was just a dream; I would NEVER let you die. I just want you to be safe and happy.” He says. “That’s the thing, I’m not worried about me, I’m worried about YOU I don’t want you to die Warren. I don’t want ANYONE to die because of me!” you yell. Warren puts his finger on your lips and you fall silent. “Don’t yell, it’s bad for your voice.” he says. You smile a little at his grown up tone but you nod anyways. “All that matters right now is your safety, I will never let anyone hurt you ______. I know that’s a big promise, but I mean it. I will never let anyone hurt you for as long as I live. Just in case you haven’t been paying attention, that’s forever” he says. You hug him tighter and he hugs you back “Thank you” you whisper. He lifts your chin up, “hey, what are friends for?” he says. You smile a little “making pasta sauce” you say. “There’s the ______, I remember” he says. You smile a bit more and look at him, “Warren what are you doing out here anyways?” you ask. “Guarding the cars, I couldn’t sleep” he says. “Mind if I join you?” you ask. “I don’t know, you should get some sleep we’re going to do lots of traveling tomorrow.” He says. You look at his watch and smile “It IS tomorrow” you point out. He gives you a look, “alright, but no more yelling. I don’t want a bunch of rednecks to kill me in my sleep” he says. You chuckle and agree silently. You stand beside him with your arms still wrapped around him. You hear his promise dance around in your head and you look at the sunrise “Warren, I will never let anyone hurt you” you say to him. He keeps looking at the horizon, guarding the cars with his life. You know he heard you though, and you know that you’d keep that promise for as long as the test of time. Which in your case, is forever.
