If you order food at a restaurant, and you think it might be poisonous, how do you tell? Maybe you feed it to your sister, or just eat it?

How do you tell if something is poisonous?

Do some research on it.
Try it. If I die, it's not edible.
Feed it to my sister.
Feed it to my dog.
Feed it to my friend.
Feed it to my slave.
Put it through some chemistry tests.
Base it on taste. If it's acid, to bad for me.
Put it in my teacher's Valentines chocolates.
