  1. The next day, June 14th, seven days before a war of the gods would begin, the Amtrack train rolled it's way into Denver, Colorado. You hadn't eaten since Kansas and you were dying of hunger. Grover was fidgeting in his seat, trying to stay calm and not whine. "Grover, calm down," said Percy, "There is a diner about twenty feet from us. You'll live." Grover threw him a glare you wouldn't think was possible coming from a goat. You just laughed, since there was nothing else to do. 
  2. "Um, Percy? Grover? Do you mind if, before we go to the diner, we call Chiron?" you asked. "We're not allowed to use cell phones, Vi. Or technology. At all," said Percy. You rolled your eyes at him. "I'm not talking about cell phones, Percy." Percy was confused for a moment until you reached into your bag and brought out a bag of drachmas. Grover whistled. "W-why do you even want to contact Chrion?" asked Percy, in shock at the sight of do many coins. "I want to tell him about your little free fall from the Arch-" "Wait. Before you do that..." Percy said, reaching into his pocket. He took out three, green pearls. 
  3. There was a swirling green pattern on them, as if there was a green mist inside them. "Percy....where did you get those?" you asked, seriously creeped out. "A Nereid gave them to me when I fell into the Mississippi. She said they were a gift from my dad and something like I had to go to Santa Monica," said Percy, shaking his headmaster trying to remember. You stared at him, shocked. "And why, Percy, WHY, didn't you tell us this before?!" you asked. Percy shrugged. "It didn't seem important at the time." You stared at him in disbelief that he withhold this from you. "Well I guess I'll also be informing Chiron of your little chat with the Nereid then." You then turned on your heel and began to walk towards downtown. "Where are you going?" asked Grover. You turned to him, but kept walking.

  5. Suddenly, you were looking through the mist at the strawberry fields, the ones you missed a lot and hadn't even noticed. You were standing on the porch of the Big House. And only a few steps in front of you were two boys. One with sandy hair wearing kaki shorts and an orange shirt. The other with black hair and the same outfit. They seemed to be staring intently down at the  meadow. It was Luke and Devin. You could tell. You tried to hide behind Percy, but Grover had already called put to them. "Luke! Devin!" They turned fast, at the sound of their names. Their eyes widened when they saw Percy and Grover standing their. The look on Luke's face when he didn't see you was horrible. "Grover, Percy," he said, offering them heart-broken smiles, "W-where is she?" Grover looked shocked, then turned to look behind Percy. "Vi! Come out!" he said, hauling you out by the arm. 
  6. The moment Luke and Devin laid eyes on you felt like years instead of one, little second. You stared at them, wide eyed. They looked back, looks of extreme happiness spreading across their faces. "Um....hi," you said, the awkwardness of the moment making you fidget and move around. "Violet..." said Devin. You smiled awkwardly at him, giving him a small wave. "Hey, guys," you said in a quiet voice. You looked at Luke. He was looking at you with a mesmerized look in his eyes. "Luke. Hey," you said, snapping him out of his trance. "Hello, Violet," he said, running a hand through his hair. "So, Luke," said Percy, saving you from more awkward conversation, "Where's Chiron?" 
  7. "He's down at the cabins," said Luke, keeping his eyes on you, "We're having some....issues. Listen, are you guys alright?" Suddenly, a large car pulled into the stall next to you, music blaring as the driver exited the car. "What's that noise?!" Devin yelled over the music. Eager to get away, you said, "I'll go take care of it!" You turned on your heel, Luke watching you go. You walked over to the next stall. Walking up to the guy, you said, "Listen, pal, I'm in a really bad mood right now. If you would like to keep your head, I suggest you get back in your car and find a different car wash!" The guy looked at you fearfully, eyeing the pocketknife peeking out of your pocket. He all but ran back into the car and was gone before you could blink. 
  8. As you headed back to the stall, you heard the boys talking in whispers. You guessed they hadn't wanted you to hear what they were talking about. You hid in between the stalls, listening intently. "Is she okay, Grover?" you heard Luke ask. "Yeah...she's fine now. Her leg magical healed itself. I thinks she's got some major favoritism from Apollo or something. I don't know what else it could be," said Grover. Luke was silent. "Well, I'm glad she's better..." said Devin. "So, what kind of problems are you having?" asked Percy, sounding eager to change the subject. "Chiron had to break up a fight," said Luke, sounding far away, "Things are pretty bad around here...word of the whole Poseidon-Zeus standoff. Campers are taking sides. Aphrodite, Apollo, and Ares are backing Poseidon, more or less, and Athena is backing Zeus." 
  9. "How are you guys? Chiron's gonna be mad that he missed you," said Luke. You listened as Percy told everything from Gladiola the poodle to falling from the Arch. "I wish I was there with you guys....your quest is definitely going better than mine did...I can't help much from here, but listen. It's gotta be Hades." "We-" Percy started. "No, Percy, listen," said Devin, "Me and Luke were talking. He was there at Olympus during the winter solstice. Luke and I were both there and we saw him. It has to be him." "But I thought gods couldn't take other gods' symbols of power," said Grover. "Not directly," said Devin, sounding troubled, "But still. Hades has the helm of darkness. How else would anybody be able to get the bolt? You'd have to be invisible!" Everyone was silent as Devin's words began to sink in. 
  10. "H-hey, I didn't mean Annabeth. She's...she's my sister. We've known each other for a long time, even before I knew she was my sister. She wouldn't...she couldn't-" "Steal the master bolt? Frame Poseidon? The god whom her mother, Athena, happens to have a certain rivalry?" you said, taking your chance to enter the conversation. "I don't think it's out of her reach." "Violet...you don't mean that," said Grover, shaking his head. "Oh but I do. She was there during the solstice, wasn't she? She has that stupid hat of invisibility?" you said pointedly, remembering that night on the beach with Luke, when you discover Annabeth hiding invisibly behind the bush, "She's very fierce about Athena. Who's to say she didn't steal the bolt?" "Violet....you don't know what you're talking about," said Luke, with a look in his eyes that you couldn't explain. Changing the subject, Luke said, "Well, Percy. How are those shoes working out for you?" "Oh, great!" said Percy, and you tried not to laugh, seeing as the shoes were fastened tightly on Grover's feet. 
  11. "Awesome. I'm happy they're doing you some good." Suddenly, a distant yell came from behind Luke. "We better go. Good luck, guys!" said Devin. "Bye, Violet," said Luke. You simply smiled, then walked out of his field of view. Grover stopped pumping the spray bottle. "Can we PLEASE go eat now?!" "Yeah, goat boy, let's go eat," you said with a laugh. You found yourself a few minutes later sitting in a diner booth. "When the waitress came over, she said, "Well?" "We want food," said Percy. "You got the money to pay for it?" The end of her sentence was drowned out by the sound of a gigantic rumble, so loud it shook the whole diner. You looked put the window and saw the biggest Harley you had ever seen in your life. Its gas tanks had flames painted on the sides, with shotgun holders attached to them. The seat was leather, but it look like....skin. The guy on the bike was like every nightmare you had ever had put into human form. 
  12. He was dressed in a red muscle shirt and a leather jacket. He also had black jeans and wraparound sunglasses. His face was scarred and bruised, but yet, still wickedly handsome. As he walked into the small diner, a hot wind blew your way, blowing your hair away from your face. "I'll take care of it," the guy said, walking up to you, "Their food is on me." The waitress walked away faster than you could blink.  The biker sat next to Grover, quashing him against the window, and across from you and Percy. "Hello, Violet, Daughter of Aphrodite," he said, "Do you know who I am?" "Her worst nightmare?" answered Percy, who seemed to be shaking with anger. The biker laughed. "Worse."
