Our "When Will I Die" Quiz?

  1. What is your age?
  2. What is your gender?
  1. The morning light shone on my face. I opened my eyes and saw specks of dust frozen in midair all around me. Hera rolled off the mattress and hit the ground with a soft thud. She groaned, pushing herself up, mumbling something unintelligible. I stifled a laugh and she looked at me with a sleepy, annoyed expression. I grinned and we both changed into more inconspicuous clothes.
  2. I checked the surroundings and I didn't hear any unnatural breathing or heartbeats, nor did I recognize any familiar footsteps. Hera and I carefully jumped off the tree house with our backpacks. We planned something like this, in case it ever happened. Hera took two bus tickets out of her backpack and handed one to me. We had to be at the bus stop at exactly 4:00pm.
  3. "I think we should get there a little earlier." Hera mentioned as we went to a small grocery store to buy some snacks for the ride. "Why?" I asked, grabbing a bag of Chex Mix and sour candy. Hera took a few granola bars and Pringles, "I have a feeling the bus is going to be there a little early." I shook my head but I knew we should heed her warning. "Alright, we'll eat breakfast then head for the bus stop. Where do you want to eat?" "Mmm... I want a burger."
  4. We arrived at Carl's Jr. and ordered then took a seat at a couple of stools. After we ate, we seemed to have more than enough time for the bus stop so we sat there, discussing our next moves. "What I've been thinking," Hera suggested, "is that we head to Maine. It'll hold the others back and buy us enough time to settle down. We can rent another apartment and we'll work to keep up with rent and food." I thought deeply about it. It sounded good so far, just one little thing. "What happens if, or when, they find us?" I asked, worriedly. Hera tightened her lips and looked around, deep in thought.
  5. Her body jerked up from her slouch and she sucked in a sharp breath. I bit my bottom lip, expecting her to sense something dangerous. She slowly let the breath out but she didn't relax her posture. "The guys are coming for us." She whispered. "Well, that's good, isn't it?" She shook her head, "No, the other guys are on their trail. If the boys find us, so do the others." "So what are we going to do?" I asked, hearing the familiar footsteps at a 5 mile distance. The waitress brought us our food and we stuffed it in our backpacks. "We make a run for it." Hera said, stuffing a fry in her mouth.
  6. We got to the bus stop at 3:30 and took a seat by the bench, fully aware of the emptiness around us. A few buses passed but not ours. "Are you sure this is the place?" I asked Hera, realizing it was well past four. "This is what the ticket said." She replied, reading the ticket, once more. I could hear distant voices, about 5 miles away... "Are you sure they went this way?" a voice I recognized as Kyle asked. "Positive." James replied. "Don't question a werewolves' nose." Ren commented. "Don't deny a vampire's instinct. They went this way and they've been there for a while."
  7. Hera shook me, "Em! They're getting closer. We gotta hitch a ride." I nodded my head. "I can hear them; they're some pretty good trackers." "I know the next car will get us somewhere safe but I don't know when it's coming." Hera replied, pulling at her hair from the nerves. I pulled her hand away, "relax, I can hear one car coming, sounds like a minivan." "That's the one!" Hera exclaimed. I smiled and hoped it would come faster than the boys, because once they find us, the others will kill them, Hera will somehow survive, and something happens to me... Stupid prophesies.
  8. The minivan came towards us at a fast pace. Hera stood in the middle of the road and I could hear the boys' footsteps at least 3 miles away. The minivan came to a complete stop in front of Hera. There was an old woman with a sweet smile on her face. "Where are you headed, honey?" she asked with an innocent grin on her face. The sides of her eyes wrinkled from her smile and her hair was pulled back into a neat bun.
  9. "The nearest airport, please, we're late for our flight." I said, a bit of anxiety in my voice. The door slid open and the lady said, "Hop on in, girls. You're in for quite a ride." "I hope so." Hera said under her breath. I smiled at her and slid into the car after her. There were 2 children in the car. One was a boy around the age of 12 with light brown hair and tan skin. He had the look of a surfer. I smiled at him but he turned his head. How rude, I thought. Then there was a little girl around the age of 7. She resembled the boy only her hair was lighter and she had light blue eyes. The girl wore a large grin and her hair was pulled back into a ponytail. "Hi!" she giggled. I couldn't help but smile. I held out my hand for her to shake it, "I'm Emilia but you can call me Em. This is Hera." The girl couldn't look more excited.
  10. "I'm Cali and this is my brother Zach," she paused, putting her hand in the space between them as if he couldn't hear, "He just woke up so he's a little cranky." Hera laughed and so did the old lady driving. "These are my grand kids. You two girls can call me Hannah." she said. "It's nice to meet you all." Hera said, much to my surprise. I gave her an odd look and she shrugged, obviously not knowing where that came from either. The car was driving fairly fast and I could hear the boys' voices getting further and further. Hera gave me a worried glance and I assured her that everything was going as planned.
  11. Somewhere in between the ride from where Hannah picked us up and the airport I fell asleep on Hera's shoulder. I woke up just as the car swerved fervently. With a gasp, I struck out my arm and stopped Cali and Hera from flying through the window. Zach gripped my arm but released it immediately after he realized he had done so. "Hannah, are you alright?" I asked.
  12. The lady nodded and replied, "Yes, sweetheart. It's just that I blinked a bit longer than I should have." She chuckled. I smiled, assuring myself that everyone was fine. "I'll drive for you, if you want." Hannah pulled the car to the side as she spoke, "That would be wonderful, sweetheart. I've been driving for too long and I need some sleep." They switched spots in the car. Hera drove carefully but fast enough to leave the boys out of range.
  13. Hannah was curled up against the window, sound asleep. Watching her made me want to take a nap. I closed my eyes and rested my head on the seatbelt. Slowly, I drifted off into a dreamless sleep but I was awoken by the sound of a very familiar song. "And the moon will rise/ the night will be bright/ but no one will come/ for he will be gone" the voice who sang it was small and childlike. It ran chills up my spine. Nevertheless, the lyrics flowed out of my mouth without notice, "but then who will save you/ at your heart's despair? / like the Niveus Pernimius/ your end is near."
  14. Where had I heard that before? I knew it was a children's lullaby but it had never been so relative to me before. I tried to remember the rest of the lyrics but nothing came. With a gasp, I opened my eyes. I looked around me, Hera was still driving, and the kids were asleep, along with their grandmother. Whose voice was singing? "Hera, did you hear someone singing right now?" I asked, my voice still sleepy. She glanced back to look at me, "You and Cali. It was pretty creepy. What is that dong from? I've never heard it."
  15. Before I could reply, I heard someone mumbling behind me. It was Zach, "leave. You have to go." I turned around and saw his face twisting into different expressions-confusion, fear, anger, anguish, fear again, anger- I outstretched my arm and shook his leg. "Hey," I whispered, "I think you were having a nightmare. Are you okay?" He blinked several times and rubbed his eyes, breathing heavily. Finally he looked at me, "You shouldn't be here. You need to go." I glanced at Hera who was listening to our conversation, then back to Zach, "Why?" He looked afraid again but answered with a steady voice, "someone's coming. And they want you. They're gonna hurt someone and I won't risk my family getting hurt. Please... just go."
  16. I nodded at Hera and she pulled over, thankfully, we were back in civilization and the airport wasn't so far away. We thanked the family and said goodbye. Hannah gave us a big hug and said that she was so happy to meet nice people. Zach gave us warning glances but shook our hands in respect for us. When he shook my hand, he pulled me into a hug and whispered, "Be careful, I know it's difficult but trust the boys. They know what they're doing." I blinked at him in surprise and he smiled for the first time in the trip, "yeah, I know. An old man told me you two would join in for a ride." My mouth dropped, "what old man?" He smiled even wider, "he told me I can't tell you." And with that, they drove off, never to be seen again.
  17. I gaped at Hera, too in shock to speak. After that, she laughed and pulled me into the nearest store. We had to ditch the clothes and cover our scent. Hera picked out some new clothes and I picked out perfumes. When we met in a diner half an hour later, she said, "This perfume smells like candy in a nightclub. Where did you get this?" Confused by her reaction, I asked, "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" She smiled, "it's alright. It all depends on the guy we're trying to impress." I rolled my eyes, "Hera, we're not trying to impress anyone," I laughed; "we're trying to throw off our scent." she shrugged, spraying some on her new clothes, "we could impress some guys on the way."
  18. We laughed and then I silenced her. I could hear the boys arguing. They were far but not that far. Hera and I dumped our old clothes in a motel's closet just to lead them on a wild goose chase and buy us some time. We gathered our things and went to the airport. Airport security seemed endless. One necklace could set off the alarm. I couldn't hear the boys arguing anywhere near us but something seemed out of place. The airport buzz seemed to blind me of what I was looking for. As I waited for Hera to pass through the last part of security, I tried to figure out what it was that I was looking for. I didn't recognize anyone here. Then again, my senses were being numbed out so I couldn't focus as well as I usually did.
  19. Hera put her hand on my shoulder and the other on her temple. "ughh, all these people here are giving me a headache. I can't focus on anything." "Me neither," I groaned, "Where do we go next?" Hera blinked several times and then pointed to a certain direction, "the security guard said to go to Section C. its right down this hall to the left." Without a word, we both walked down the hall and stopped immediately when we arrived to the waiting area. There, standings in the midst of the crowd, were the boys
