Is Your Character a Mary Sue? | Comments

I got 26% Mary Sue. Her name is Lucky. At around 7, she is taken from her mother by an off- grid government program, where they intend to use her powers for experiments. She meets her friend there (kori), who has somewhat similar abilities. However, Kori is deemed too powerful, and taken for execution. Lucky is able to save her, and they both escape. 2 years later, They're both captured, again. This time, Lucky is taken for an attempt to weaken her powers. This causes her to lose skin pigmentation. Unfortunately, Kori is killed saving her. :( Lucky escapes, and undergoes procedures in an attempt to look like herself again. One goes wrong, causing her to lose one of her eyes. She gets it fixed, but now she looks absolutely unrecognizable. The bad guys are still trying to track her down, so she teams up with someone else to escape, and that's about all I have right now.

I got 4% and the comment said "go ahead and make her a little prettier!" :P ..She is already pretty, but she mostly doesn't know how to deal with the situation they've all ended up in and is trying her best to deal with it just as everyone else is (and yes, failing, and making bad decisions that she initially is sure are the right choices.. and then realizes she maybe picked the wrong side to begin with but it's too late so she has to kind of stick it out). Like everyone else involved, she has to learn to adjust to this new, horrible situation as it unfolds with no supernatural skills or magical weapons or anything, and they all have to use each others' strengths to try to make it through. She's a tracker and can find her way through an environment the others would be lost in, and knows how to use the land in that environment to survive (to not starve or die of thirst, where to find shelter etc), but the others are physically much stronger and highly trained in combat meaning they can fight the creatures hunting them, so they work with each other to survive in this brutal new reality they've all been thrust into. The problem is, as stated earlier, she realizes when it's too late that she maybe picked the wrong side. She has to sacrifice all of her own morals as a result which leads to catastrophic results.

I got 23% for my oc and her name is Estrella Esmeralda Cortez and shes a human being. Shes a character in a story and I was worried she was a Mary Sue due to the fact many people like her (probably because they feel bad for her?) and hates the fact of many people liking her. She has a wolfdog named lobo and a twin brother named Miguel. She is a Mexican. She has anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. Even though she belongs to a rich family, lot of people despise her. Shes insecure, has trust issues, and pretty sadistic at times. She has a low self esteem and is definitely flawed. She believes shes not good enough and blames herself for the death of her older sister. Her character and design was based off me, your everyday sad potato. She is chubby and has anger issues.

I got a 9%. My character's name is Lila, she's a fandom character (Undertale) more specifically, she's one of the kids that Asgore took the soul of. She's an orphan, she grew up in an orphanage until she ran away at the age of 10. She climbed the mountain (I forget what it's called) and fell to the Underground. Toriel found her and took her in, and she stayed with Toriel for a few days until she grew tired of the same routine and managed to excape. However, Asgore found her and took her soul within a few hours, as she was grossly unprepared for the rest of the Underground. She contributes to a lot of Toriel's guilt about not being able to save any children.

Appearance-wise, she's skinny with stringy black hair, blue eyes, and freckles. She likes to dress extravagantly but she doesn't own many clothes. She most often wears a small, beat-up tutu.

She's super wimpy, scared of the dark, and she has asthma, which is why Asgore got her so quickly.

Dang, Isaac. You are incredibly boring. 4%. I get it. I purposefully made Isaac kinda average to make up for his status in the demon world. He is the heir to the underworld, but his father doesnt trust him, as Isaac is incredibly kind and sweet. Isaac has depression and anxiety. He is so unnoticeable in the overworld that the only people who know him are his small friend group made up of a few mistreated demons. Basically, he hated his life in the underworld so since his father was a reaper (a demon who teleports to the overworld to collect souls) before he became ruler, Isaac had that ability and used it to start a life in the overworld where he and his friends were just like every other human. He goes to a human high school and meets the love of his life, a human boy who happened to be the smartest kid in the entire school and was WAY out of Isaac's league.

I got 11% Mary Sue. My character is a Steven universe OC. His name is Titanite. He's extremely tall but slightly overweight. His eyes are peach colored and he's of feminine stature. He has no hair. He has extreme Claustrophobia and Autism. His backstory isn't entirely tragic since I'm still finding it out, but in the gem blast that the diamonds made, he managed to survive by hiding out with others. His closest friend, Zincite, didn't make it in time and ended up corrupted. When he came out, he saw her and had to shatter her to put an end to her misery. He's overly optimistic around other people, but at the end of the day, he always ends up thinking about Zincite. It practically haunts him to this day.

I got 31 percent my character has 2 alters that commit some really questionable things and all that she can do is watch well only with one alter her actions are slightly better than the other and with the other one it's just a complete different person and she can only switch back when the alters have their fun and she's just crying like holy s--- what did I just do she's dark skinned with curly dark hair with a Pink highlight she has dark brown eyes she wears cute clothing and doesn't attract attention her name is rose. It's pretty notice able which alter is controlling her because when shes in the 1st alter she has slightly less curly hair and with the second one it's not curly and is pointy her hair is short also her alters keep terrorizing this one guy named moon I don't have the confidence to tell you what they do but imma tell ya it uhh it... Gets em hard but they don't actually do anything he just got a dirty mind as you can guess the non alter has a crush on him but is too scared bc of what her alters have been doing. Any questions?

I'm surprised my character only got 18%

He's a MHA fan character named Koshiro Yuta, he's conventionally attractive: Tall, Long black hair (yes based off of Aizawa), purple eyes (Lavender), Dark academia aesthetic, calm, kind, smart etc. He's in college and isn't a hero or villain, just a normal college student trying to become a doctor. He has a decent quirk, the ability to turn any liquid to a different one (for example being able to turn water to milk or to acid) but he didn't want to be a hero. He wasn't popular but wasn't an outcast, just the smart, attractive guy who kept to himself. Also he wasn't socially anxious, he just didn't go out of his way to talk to people. He likes horror novels and the outdoors (especially during Autumn/Fall) and would read outside or in a caf.

In the story, he's doing his daily schedule and toga spots him reading outside during Autumn/fall. Since he's attractive, she thinks he's hot and likes him along side Deku. But Koshiro is Asexual so the whole story is him trying to go through existence with Toga trying to make him and Deku fall in love with her. They both eventually get kidnapped by her but get saved by class 1-A and Koshiro becomes like an ally and friend to class 1-A (especially Deku). Since he's smart this means Deku and Class 1-A asks him for help with things if Momo and/or Iida can't solve them or she's/He's unavailable. He asks them for help if Toga and ,now since the LOV are after him, the rest of the LOV are trying to kill him.

Since he's smarter than Momo and Iida (not combined!) and is attractive (to me at least) I thought he would've gotten higher.

I genuinely don't know what to think of my score (9%). My character's name is Jefferey. He didn't have a good relationship with his parents during childhood because they often socially neglected him. Later in life, he struggles with disassociation and hallucination. At some point, he gets a pink rabbit hat because he feels it summarizes his lifea weird trashy waste of space. His clothes slowly start containing more vibrant colours and mismatched clothing as his mental health deteriorates. At some point, his fashion mostly consists of neon colours as his hallucinations blur the lines between reality and fantasy. No longer being able to tell what's real, he spirals into insanity.

My OC 16% Mary sue

His name is Rayes, Shard Shade/SS is his nickname or callsign, he is a Forman, a shapeshifter species from a different demention. A trained warrior from a Shield Clan faction.

Bio

Rayes is a Forman that had a mental sickness that trigger his high emotions like anger and madness. It first been release when he was bullied and abused by few of the Clan members and one of the high rank warrior, it make him become an unstopable rage and mortaly wound every Forman that had hurt him, it cause him to send to an Asylum for a year. But luckly the Clan leader give him a chance and proved himself that he will be a better person.

He join the FSF (Forman Special Forces) of the Shield Clan, with his two cousins and two best friend. After completing the near impossible training, the five group callsign is called "Pack 10" with his older cousin as the Captain of the group.

Even tho he had these illness, he's actually a nice guy (if you didn't trigger his anger or making him upset), and be kind and loyal to his family, and play with children, because it remind him how happy he is when he was a kid, playing with his old friends who's been saperated because they were recruited from different Clan. He really afraid of being left out, because spending time in the Asylum in a white room alone without his family and friends by his side had leave an emotional scar in his heart, that's why every mission, he try his best to keep his allies and friends alive and prevent anyone turning into him. Rayes can be rude to anyone who he disliked, even attack bullies and become very brutal to them, because he think they are responsible for his anger. He was feared by many of his clan member and close allies, not daring talking to him when he had bad day, the only thing that can calm him and talk things out is his cousins.

My character is around 22 years old, she has blue hair and red eyes (that's normal for her world) she is a villian. Her parents died when she was little, and she got adopted a few years later by a small family with an older son. Let's just say they where not nice

She started her life of crime when she was around 16 let's say, by doing some petty theft. When she was 19 she burned her adopted parents house down and devoted her life to crime

I decided I wanted to take this 1 year apart with the same character, with the changes I had made. Darksong, originally Darkstar. is a dark grey tabby with yellow eyes. She specifically hunts birds, Is in love with someone who she grew up with named Foxfur. Her original character was the child of Greystripe and a rogue named Chaos. Yikes. Chaos is still her mother, but instead of being abandoned, her mother ans sibling were kicked out for breaking the warrior code.Her original character is 24%. the new version is only 14%. Nice improvement?

I did another test, but for my oc Eliot Yohei. I got a 21%. I don't really see it, he has only one power which is the ability to move stars around, but he can't bring them down to earth. He has a pretty normal life, he came out as trans and his parents didnt like that so he ran away. He never contacted them again and just went to live with his friend at their apartment. The only mental disorder he has is BPD and or DID(personality disorders.) He's completely human. His hair is black and his eyes are amber, almost yellow. He never hurt anyone. He's only 16 and he's growing quickly, he can't control himself and often breaks down if he feels things aren't working out the way he wants them to, ex; He seems to be doing well with the person he likes, then the person he likes goes and sleeps with another man. He feels like it's his fault. I feel like he's not much of a Gary Sue, but I'm not sure. Also, he's extremely weak and underweight, he's barely able to do anything.

In Aquila's case, the main head is selfish, smug, reckless, and often cruel, while her other head is friendly, soft, and 'girly' so to speak

In one of the final episodes she will lose her 'good' head in a dramatic swordfight, causing her severe trauma, and forever changing her into a cruel monster. She eventually joins a group of bandits, becomes it's leader, and grows it into a large army of outcasts, pillaging and plundering the lands far and wide.

I got 22%, but I feel like my character is really hard to put in these quizzes. Her name is Isla and she is a shapeshifter. She is the only one of her kind on the planet and was sent there by a goddess to save the planet from destruction, but she ended up starting a war because she became an outcast and was furious that everyone on the planet had rejected her. She has dark red hair and bright green eyes, but these can change whenever she wants. She can change literally everything about herself so it's really hard to answer questions that have to do with weight and/or looks. Overall, I think that I have to just give up on using this character for these quizzes. She's doesn't really fit into the answers.

I got 18%, that is pretty good I think! This time I tested an OC named Milly, she is a protagonist of a comic book I worked on since like, two years ago, I recently changed her appearance so I decided to take this quiz Milly is kind of a self insert, based on my 9-year old self with her hairstyle, personality, and obsession with cats, and has that outfit of my current outfit tastes, she wears a blue stripey long sleeve shirt/sweater with a ginger tabby cat on it, she wears dark blue rain boots, a blue Russian fur hat with kitty ears, she has blue eyes, a dark blue skirt, and thigh-high stripey socks. Now onto her personality, she is based on the younger me (9 years old, so it is her age too) so she is hyper, thoughtful, creative, and imaginative, and very adventurous, which suits her current lifestyle. She isnt a completed character yet but I know what my flaws were as a child but dont know how to use them as a plot device yet. Now onto her past/story, she was a normal friendly human girl until she met Yaying (another character in the book) who was an alien specifically a species called Yayis) that got his planet destroyed. And throughout the book, Milly and Yaying go on adventures, and try an fix the damage that the two antagonists, Heartbreak and ash have done to the Yayis. But yeah, this quiz was really fun!

I got 29%. My character's name is Kei Mitchel. He is a My Hero Academia fan character. His ability is called sound wave (and no I did not try to copy earphone jack's quirk). He manipulates the sound waves around him and uses them to his advantage. The drawbacks are the vibrations go through his entire body before he uses them, so if they are too much for him when his body isn't ready, he could possibly die. He has pinkish purple hair and it is cut like Saka's from Avatar: the last air bender, and its dyed electric blue on the ends.

He first appears when he is transferring to UA from a hero school in America, but on his way there he gets attacked by a villain with a mind control quirk. He ends up hurting some people and when he is captured by the police he is released from the quirk. He tells the police and they release him when they catch the villain. When he enters UA he is mistreated by people in other classes, and his own, class 1-A (he is in 1-A because he was in a hero class in America) and joins best Jeanist's agency because best Jeanist liked his quirk and style.

After around a month nobody has even tried to be friends with him and he is paired up in English class with Denki Kaminari for a project (cuz denki isn't very bright and Kei used to live in america so he is fluent in english, also he felt bad). When they are paired up they don't get along very well at first, but then bond over the greatest thing to ever exist, memes. They soon become friends, and after a long while most people in the class start to warm up to him, save for a few people *cough*bakugou*cough* and thats it.
