PLEASE RESPOND PROMPTLY
My grandmother likes to go to Walmart a lot, and I've been trying to save up for a Nintendo Switch and some games. Right now, I have enough room by the Switch Lite and no games😓
I wanted to get the normal or OLED Switch so I'll have a bigger screen and docking station, but I do the entire have a TV in my room to connect to, and it's just me here for most of the time. Should I get a normal Switch or the Lite?
Pros for Lite:
-Costs less
-Can use Joycons (sold separately)
-Can play most games I'm interested in
-Higher Availability than the normal Switch
Cons for Lite:
-Smaller screen
-Needs parts sold separately to play all games
-Cannot dock or charge remotes
-Single-player only
We ready know that whatever the Lite can't do, the normal Switch can. But do you think I should wait until I have more money (and be without a system for an unknown amount of time), or should I buy the Lite (and wait until I have money for actual games, but not have all functions for the Switch? -
It depends on what games you are wanting

I want Smash Bros, Zelda, Splatoon, and Metroid. Sonic...
Not a lot of motion-controled stuff. So, it would be good for those games, I guess, but I have vision problems, so playing Super Smash Bros on such a small screen sort of bothers me. I might adjust, tho??? -
I think you should go with the regular switch then. It has the multiplayer feature which multiplayer is, in my opinion, the best way to play some of those games.
I think that you can adjust, but, I do not think that you will be able to see the whole screen though.
Cool games by the way! 😊 -
Absolutely don't get the lite. It's complete obsolete as a console and really only exists for situations like yours, where uneducated buyers are looking to save money. It is worth every penny to get the full sized switch. GameStop has some pretty great trade offers and discount prices for used switches if it helps.
-
Also just so you know you cannot remove the joycons on a lite. The joycons are notorious for developing drift and unfortunately the lite is no exception. While it is less common, it is still possible for your unremovable joycons to develop drift and then your whole console sucks.

One more thing. Most full sized switches come with a promotional game in the system. Once you own a switch you can download a snes game collection for free off the app store and it gives you hundreds of classics titles for free.

So don't worry about not being able to do anything with it. Yes it'll take awhile to buy that sixty dollar Splatoon game but you'll still be able to get plenty of games for free in the meantime including castle crashers and 9 parchments

Alright. Thanks.
