Chester refused to meet his gaze, eyes glued to their hands. 'I love you too. But darling, what have I ever done for you?'

"You stood up for me when even I didn't want to, you care about me, you've put up with everyone just to be with me." Jayden frowned when he noticed Chester wasn't looking. "You've made me feel like I'm actually worth something, love."

Chester sighed, grip tightening on Jayden's hands for a moment. 'But I've also let my ex girlfriend kiss me, drunkenly yelled at you, thought about hypnotizing you, then let my ex kiss me again. That doesn't bother you?'

"S-she used her powers on you." Jayden argued. "And the phoenix was controlling you yelling at me- which you removed because of that, even knowing how awful the side affects were. A-and the hypnotizing was to try to make me feel better, which you said you didn't want to do anyways."

'I could've done something! I could've, I don't know, punched her in the face! I still got drunk, which was my fault! And the fact I even thought it was horrible!'

Jayden held him close. "Nothing you say will change my mind. I don't blame you for anything."

Chester looked down at him. He furiously wiped his eyes, that had begun to tear up, and held Jayden close.

Jayden held him close, rubbing his back. "I love you."

Chester buried his face in his shoulder, hugging him tightly. ‘I love you too,’ he mumbled.

"I know you do." Jayden kissed the top of his head.

Chester leaned into his touch.

Jayden let him.

Chester sighed. He looked up at him. ‘You’re too good to me.’

"Hardly." You deserve someone who doesn't make you spiral like this.
