Orpheus started his long walk home. Everything felt longer when he walked alone. He wondered if he could find a friend to walk with someday. It would be better if people just talked to him in his mind. He was not very good with social situations.
-
Levi slipped his phone into his flimsy pocket, unaware that Orpheus left.
-
Orpheus walked on the side of the road just beside the yellow line. It was better for his feet that way. He'd walk on the sidewalk if there was one but the city didn't card enough to build one. He already felt the ache at the soles of his feet. One of the big distinctions between him and Icarus were his flat feet. It was another reason he believed himself to be an abomination.
-
Levi then looked at his motorcycle, thinking. He had thought about riding his motorcycle once again. The dark red motorcycle was parked in front of the church, and it leaned on a streetlight right next to it.
-
Orpheus looked at his bag. Icarus used to pack snacks when they had to walk. Orpheus kept little things in the bag that he found. He noticed a dandelion that was still a yellow flower. He picked the flower and placed it carefully in his bag.
-
Something in his gut told him that he should be riding his motorcycle. Just do it, just do it, just do it already. he thought.
-
Orpheus started to stray towards the yellow line not quite on the road but much to close. He was too preoccupied in his thoughts
-
Levi gave in. He stood up, ran around the small hedges, and after a few moments he was on his motorcycle, on the motorcycle.
-
While walking, Orpheus saw something glint on the yellow line in the road. He walked over and bent down to look at it. It was small. He leaned his head down to look closer, then his glasses slipped off his face. Everything was blurry.
-
Levi untied the knot that he used to lock the motorcycle in place. He squeezed the clutch lever, and it started. The motor's noise startled a few children walking on the sidewalk, but he was too focused on starting the motorcycle to notice.
-
Orpheus searched blindly for his glasses. He blushed in embarrassment thinking about what a cliche it was but he was legally blind without them and the light wasn't super great that day.
-
Levi turned the other way, and eventually got on the road.
-
Orpheus could never realize how far he wandered onto the road and he could never predict that his glasses had tumbled behind him, away from the road.
-
Levi noticed Orpheus struggling to find his glasses. Even worse, he was heading towards him. Levi tried to stop the motorcycle, but it didn't work, and he was still heading near Orpheus.
-
Orpheus saw a bright light, it hit him before he could even turn to see. He felt the impact in his shoulder push him to the ground before the motorcycle slammed into his back, splintering his ribs and fracturing his lungs. His spine broke in two. He was deceased in mere moments.
