Morrigan continued walking through the hall, glancing around. She turn right and after a bit more walking they got to a room lit by a candle, and the headless horseman in front of it.
'Galloper Thompson,' she whispered to Geistaz, peeking through the side of the door. -
"That's him?" he whispered back.
-
'Yup,' Morrigan said. Galloper's back was turned to them, but he was wearing a coat, gloves, boots and had no head. 'Nicknamed the Headless Horseman. He has a tragic backstory, and practically hates everyone.'
-
Geistaz was nervous. “But then, does he hate us, or is it fine to go in like this!?“
-
'Shush!' Morrigan scolded, still staring at Galloper's back. 'He certainly hates me, but I don't know about you.'
-
“My bad.“ he whispered.
-
After a moment, Morrigan said, 'He was a mere man, no trace of magic in him. A human - gross. He fought in a war, lost his daughter, and was forever grieving. That's what the ghouls told me, anyway. He led a riot against the rulers of the human world and got sentenced to death. They say that when the axe came down, he stood up headless and his mare carried him here,' in a voice with a clear note of excitement.
-
"So that's his backstory? Pretty... interesting."
-
'It is,' Morrigan said, eyes still on the man's back.
-
"Oh." he said, chuckling quietly. He then faced the headless person, nervously. "So... What do we do noth then? Will he respond?"
-
'He might to you. Probably not to me.'
-
"Well then." he grumbled.
-
'If he is guilty of chucking you in there, he wouldn't admit it,' Morrigan said. 'There might be clues somewhere, cos he won't admit it if we just ask him.'
-
"So, technically, that means we aren't going to ask him? Or do you mean that in a different way?"
-
'It's your decision, boss,' she said. 'I'm only the unpaid detective. It's your case, after all.'
