Faeries.
They obviously can fly, but have quite a strong connection to the element of air. They can connect with their magic without a wand or staff, and tend to be very spiritual. -

ok so i had some thoughts. (i'm on a boat rn btw. i just brutally murdered several fish by bonking them on the head with a metal baseball bat. i feel bad, but it's king salmon season man.)
so i like the idea of the fairies and elves and stuff, but instead of having characters that are just specifically able to control the air, why not have the fairies be able to control a specific element other than just air. the elves would stay the same tho, the elves are good 👍
i think shifters, or skinwalkers, or something that could shapeshift would be cool, especially with the greed or envy house, because they would probably change themselves to sneak around and steal stuff, or to try and become more like another person. and shifters are cool because they could turn into a specific animal, so there could be just some random animal running rampant around the school causing destruction and no one would know who it was😂
i like the werewolf idea, but they only change to their wolf form during a full moon, so another feral beast that could cause just as much chaos as often as they would like, is a wendigo. (or windigo if you prefer that spelling)
i've got one more but the only reason to add this one is because it is a personal favorite of mine and i've already written too much i think
for the houses (if you haven't set too far into work for them) some could be mixed so that there are not too many. examples:
greed + envy
gluttony + sloth
lust
wrath + pride
i've made a HUGE collection of rooms that i designed while on the drive to the docks, so i've got those ready, but i still can't send them because i'm still novice😢 but that gives me time to work on making more bedrooms because for some reason i made like 15 common rooms when only 4 are needed, 2 terraces when probably 4 will be needed (or none, i just made them for fun), and only about 5 bedrooms when a lot more than that will be needed!
this would probably be too much extra work to do, so it'll be more of a back pocket idea, but it would add a bit of mystery and excitement to the plot. so we could just start off without a storyline, but afterward add some "sus" characters, kill off some students/teachers, things like that. and "behind the scenes" we could just be planning what to add next and stuff like that.
to make sure people don't get too upset if their character gets killed off, the character sheet could have something to fill out that's like "how attached do you feel to this character on a scale of 1-10", but not give away the fact that they might die or something -

I've only drawn the templates for the house crests, so I'll finish work on those later in the day. I'm good with your ideas for the houses.
I think it would be better to have 3-5 "main" characters, with 2-6 "side" characters the mains are close with that eventually get killed off. -
ooh so we can more easily know what ones could get killed off, so instead of the 1-10 thing it would be like "main or side character" and then be like "alr there can be only up to 5 mains". and probably only 1 main per person so that everyone gets a chance to be a "main character"

Not sure 5 people would join - when it gets more than 3 people it gets a little chaotic, not in a good way.
