She tried her best to fake a smile—of course, the girl wasn't exactly sure how well it even got through to other, but she tried. It wasn't about Lavender, per say, solely the internship. Three months of spending her days in a hospital. Watching over a terminally sick person. Fun.
The only thing she had remind herself repeatedly of was not to get attached.
"So. . . . is it alright if I come in?" -
"of course!" Lavender said, moving from the doorway to allow Monroe in the room, which was decorated with pictures on the walls. She then realized she didn't have her mask on, so she reached over to her side table, picking one up and putting it on. "have they told you what i have...?" Lavender asks.

The room was nice—it still had bits and pieces of the hospital feeling, but it was covered up fairly well and definitely was more comfortable than the rest of the building. A lot like, well, an ordinary bedroom. As Monroe was ushered into the room she took the liberty of plopping herself down on one of the padded chairs sitting beside the small table Lavender and snatched her mask from, and sighed.
"Oh, s---, should I put a mask on? No, God knows why no one's told me yet about what you have. . . . getting me over here was all so sudden. What. . . . do you have?" -
"Cystic Fibrosis. and yes, i think you should put a mask on... i don't think you want it." Lavender says cautiously, handing her a mask.
-
"Oh. . . . I've heard of that, yeah. I think I have a face mask. . . . somewhere in here. . . ." Mondoe spent a good minute or so rifling through her small faux leather backpack and eventually tugged out an old, white mask she'd had for years. slipping it around her ears, the girl glanced back up to Lavender and let out a soft sigh.
"So, Cystic Fibrosis? Heh, how's that going for you? How's life?" -
"it's not that bad. i can at least have a semi-normal life." Lavender says, sitting on her bed and bringing her legs up to her chest. "which is more than others here have."
-
"True, you do have something. Do you. . . . live here in the hospital? Full time? Or is it just in sections?" She questioned, sliding her fingers through her dark hair and keeping her eyes on the other girl.
-
"sometimes i get to go home, when my lungs aren't infected with anything." Lavender says, pausing to take a deep breath before coughing.
