She followed them as they entered a neighborhood. They walked for 8 minutes precisely, before Rue saw the man chasing the bright red lawnmower.
-
Tet looked at the lawnmower. "Uh oh, it's coming right for me!" Tet went to move out of the way.
"Tet, watch out!" Torrin yelled, seeing a car about to pass. -
The card hit him dead on. The driver immediately stopped. A woman with bright blonde hair hurried out the driver's door, a look of shock and horror on her face.
The man had successfully captured his lawnmower, but turned it off as soon as he saw what had happened. Both he and the woman whipped out their phones and called 911.
Rue, however, was hovering over Tet's limp body. As the life drained out of him he would be able to see her clearer and clearer.
Suddenly, something was struck in her. She had only known him for a few moments, but she suddenly wondered as he saw his spirit rising out if his body, did she want to take his life? -
Tet just felt pain, he didn't even hear his brother yell. His vision was getting blurry, and he couldn't hear anything. It was almost like he was under water. The silence and darkness suddenly went away, and a vision of a cloaked woman with black and grey wings appeared became clearer and clearer. Who was this woman? Where did the street go?
-
Rue quickly tried to make up her mind. It was her purpose to take the lives of the dead. It was all she'd ever known. When it was their time, it was their time, whether they died in their sleep or were killed.
But something struck her cold heart. And she couldn't find it in herself to take his life. He could make the world a slightly better place just by being in it.
"My mistake," she said, and made his soul sink back down into his body. She then flew up to see what would happen afterwards. -
Tet was seemingly thrown back into reality. He opened his eyes and saw a woman, a man, and Torrin standing above him. He heard sirens from a short distance away. "Tet, are you alright?" Torrin asked. Tet was confused. "Where...where am I?" Tet looked around, he saw a car, and that he was on the road. "You were hit by a car. But help is almost here." Torrin assured Tet. It hurt to move. Tet closed his eyes, hoping it would alleviate the pain.

Rue was lost in thought. Why couldn't she take his life? She had done it thousands of times before with thousands of different people. What was different about this one?
A thought came to her mind. It was an outrageous thought. She had never done it before. There could be so many consequences for doing it. But she had already gone so off-kilter, she might as well do this too.
She went to a small, isolated place nearby. She hid her wings and her halo, she replaced her cloak with a purple shirt and black pants, and the biggest change of all, she made herself into a physical being. She was going to figure this out. -
The ambulance arrived, and took Tet in. After a very long night of tests, Tet was finally in a quiet room in the hospital. However, he had a visitor. Thinking it was Torrin, Tet sat up excitedly. When the visitor walked in, his face dropped. "What the hell were you thinking?!" Tet's aunt yelled. "A stupid lawnmower? Seriously? You'll be out of work for a week! Do you know how much of a hit that will be? When you come back, you better come back with all the shame in the world!" Tet's aunt slammed the door.
A week has passed, and Tet was let out of the hospital, greeted by his angry aunt. The whole car ride home, Tet was scolded by his aunt. "Tomorrow, you're going back to work and you won't complain about it!"
Tet didn't argue back with his aunt, and just nodded. Tet decided he wanted to go out on his own for a bit. He ended up walking to the park nearby. -
A whole week passed and Rue was still following Tet, trying to figure out what made him special. He was an assassin, but she had taken the lives out of millions of those. He was a kind assassin though, but she had never had a problem with that type, she'd never felt any remorse for it like she had with Tet.
Rue was so far behind on her work. She was surprised no one had noticed, or if they had, they hadn't thought to look among the humans yet. But she didn't have much time before they would.
She made the decision to interact with him.
She had been able to observe how other humans interacted with one another, but she had never done it herself.
Rue let out a nervous huff and walked up to be next to Tet. -
Tet noticed the girl sit next to him on the bench. "Hello!" Tet smiled. He hasn't seen this girl around before, maybe she was new to the area? "Isn't it such a nice day?" He added. Although, maybe the girl wasn't here for conversation.
