Things in class seemed to be going okay until someone towards the back spoke up. Davian glanced back, realizing it was Kana. He'd never talked to her but he recognized her... because she was like this a lot of the time.
She was right, but what a way to say it. They'd gone over that information, but the correct version, a week ago. He cringed then turned back to face the board, pretending to pay attention. He wasn't taking notes or anything, he was just sitting there.
He felt the girl next to him nudge him as soon as Mr. Smith turned around to face the board, and she handed him a note. He quickly unfolded it and read the contents.
He and Kyoko hadn't really talked either outside of class introductions (not a great record for his alleged popularity...), but she seemed nicer than Kana at least. A shiver went down his spine when he reached the end of the note, a glitter pen fox doodle staring up at him. He didn't like foxes, never had. He wasn't sure why, but it was inconvenient when everything was briefly fox/woodland creature themed back in the early 2010s and now, when he was having to compose a reply to Kyoko.
He wrote, in messy handwriting:
You're right, but she brought that on herself. At least it's a shorter class today. What's with the fox?
He waited for Mr. Smith to turn to the board again, then folded up the note and passed it back.Moderator -

thing had to rain upon his head today. He grabbed his backpack off the chair in the kitchen and made his way outside. He was going to have to bike to school; which wasn't an issue. It was better than riding the loud, obnoxious bus. He started to pedal down the street, wind flowing through his hair. It was nice to at least have this bit of freedom.
Before he knew it; he was at the high school. He let out a sharp sigh, and locked his bike onto the bike rack. "Onward to class." he muttered, running up the steps and into the hall.
When he made it to his destination; he knocked on the classroom door. Mr. Smith's class. Definitely one way to start his day, to say the least.Moderator -
Rafael was already late. Of course; everything
(Sorry 😅)Moderator -
Kana sat back in her seat, satisfied that she had made her point. She had always been smarter than her peers, but never popular, and that was an exchange she was happy to make. She didn't care what all these preps thought, anyway.
Mr. Smith appeared to be floundering for a response to her outburst, but was relieved of that fruitless endeavor when a knock came at the door. He straightened up.
"Come in!" he called out, slinking back to the board and correcting his mistake quietly. Kana smirked at her paper but said nothing else.Moderator -
Kyoko stared out the window daydreaming about how she'd rather be anywhere else but in this boring science classroom. Her eyes turned a pale grey to represent her boredom before she felt a tap on her shoulder. The kitsune girl flipped her gorgeous magenta locks and turned to face the student passing a piece of paper back to them. A reply from Davian!
Upon reading his reply, she felt discontented. How annoying of him to not just agree with her. She's a girl, after all, and the girls are always right because boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider. It popped up in her mind to get back at him for this mistake by taking a red glitter pen instead and just doodling foxes all over the page. Her brows furrowed in concentration at doing so. As soon as Rafael came knocking at the door, her concentration was broken. Why is everybody being so annoying today!?
Science class seemed to drag on and on before finally the bell rang. She glanced once at the mistake corrected on the board, rolled her eyes, and stood up thinking, How did this guy get a teaching degree?Moderator -
Davian looked up at the knock on the door, thankful for a distraction that didn't involve secondhand embarrassment. Rafael was better off missing most of this class.
Or, all of it, actually. The bell rang, sounding even louder with the door open, breaking the tension left from Kana's comments. Somehow Davian was still one of the first students out the door, sliding his notebook into his backpack and slinging it over his shoulder. He grabbed Rafael's attention, giving him an awkward smile as they stood in the hallway.
"I don't know why you're late, but good call honestly," he laughed, not making eye contact with Kana as she left to, presumably, go to her next class. "How Mr. Smith hasn't been fired is beyond me."
He glanced at Kyoko as she passed by, his hand on the back of his neck. While they weren't friends, he definitely felt some sort of connection to her. Not necessarily a good one.
He realized they'd been standing there for a few minutes, and Davian still needed to get some things out of his locker before his next class. "s---, I've gotta go. See you," he said, nodding at Rafael and heading out.Moderator -
Rafael stood at the door; looking after Davian and shook his head. "Was it that bad?" He thought. Probably the same old, same old. Mr. Smith wasn't the best teacher anyways. "See you later!" Rafael called, albeit a bit late; after Davian. He turned around and headed the other direction. As students passed him in the halls, Rafael felt alone. It wasn't a new feeling, but some days it was worse than others. He learned a while back, it is always better to distance yourself than to get attached.
He made his way across campus and sat under the stairwell that lead to the second floor; where his next class would be taking place, if he decided to go. He pulled a book out of backpack and started to read. The students had at least ten minutes to get to class, and Rafael saw no point in sitting in a desk for the remainder of the time. He already had an hour and half to deal with his next teacher. "Any longer than that and the universe might implode on itself."Moderator -
Kana headed to her next class, in no particular hurry to get there. She had never been a fan of gym class- she was too good at sports, and she found it boring playing with her classmates.
All the same, with no friends to distract her from her commute from one class to the next, she arrived there long before the bell rang. She changed into her gym clothes- just a simple pair of shorts, a black tank top, a black bow on her neck and black high-heeled boots. She took a book she'd been working on for a few weeks now out of her locker, sitting down on one of the changing benches far away from all the preppy girls and beginning to read.Moderator -
Kyoko trailed behind the rest of the students when leaving the classroom, sneaking a glance at Mr. Smith who was hurriedly erasing the chalkboard, and she shook her head. She stopped for just a second to put her headphones in and start playing music by her favorite band, Panic at the Disco. But like, the old stuff. Back when it was good.
Kyoko took a deep breath, looking out into the sea of her annoying ass classmates. Every one of them were the same in her eyes. Humans who just simply wouldn't understand her, so there was no point in trying anyway. She stuck to the side of the hallway, trying to avoid as much of the ocean of people as possible, but somehow someone still managed to bump her on the shoulder. The kitsune beauty sucked air in through her teeth, looked over her shoulder to glare straight at the back of the person who didn't even bother to stop, tucked her magenta locks behind her ears and put her headphones back in. She stole a quick glance at Rafael who was sitting under the stairwell before slipping into gym class just before the bell rang.
Kyoko changed into her gym clothes - A striking bright red t-shirt, grey leggings with a polka dot pattern, her bow moved to the back of her head to accompany her low ponytail, and the same black combat boots she always wore. As the teacher began explaining that they were all going to be playing dodgeball, her fox-like blue eyes shifted over to the balls neatly placed along the middle line on the gym floor.Moderator
