She smiled. "Excellent," she said. "Now, if I can manage to get Miss Javelin to let us, we'll be on our way in a short bit."

Laura could hardly contain her excitement. Her heart plummeted when she realized that Miss Javelin would probably say no. Letting Laura, the most problematic of all of the children, into the mansion of someone famous? It would be preposterous.

"Go get packed," she told Laura. She was positive she would be leaving with this child today.
And about ten minutes later, she exited the office triumphant. -
Laura beamed, rushing down the stairs with her dirty suitcase containing every worldly thing she could call her own. It was quite light, so she practically flew over to Hope and wrapped her arms around her.
"Thank you thank you thank you!" Laura said rapidly. "I never thought anyone would take me from this horrid place." -
Hope smiled down at her. She didn't want to remind the girl of something not so good, but it was better than her having her hopes crushed at the end of the week. "Remember, though, it's only for the week, he may not decide to adopt you."

Laura beamed. "Oh, I don't mind so much! Just going somewhere else for even a week is like a dream to me!*

"Alright, let's go," Hope smiled and led her out to the fancy car.

Laura gasped with delight when she saw it. She could hardly take her eyes off of it. "It's so wonderful! Do you ride in this all the time?"

"Not all the time," Hope smiled.
It took a little bit, but they made it to the mansion. It was gigantic. -

Laura could hardly believe her eyes. "It's just like one of those castles in fairy tales," she murmured, before hearing a bark. She looked around and beamed as a dog came bounding up to her.
She hugged the dog, not minding the dirty pawprints getting on her clothes. "Sandy! Thank goodness, you came! I'm so sorry," she said, feeling guilty that she had forgotten about her newly adopted dog.
