Not knowing exactly what she should do, Jenna sat down on the bed and bounced just slightly. She didn't want to sleep because she didn't know what could happen if she did, so she just... sat there.
-
A few hours later Matthew walked in. "Do you need anything?"
-
"No," Jenna said, looking down.
-
"There's a very simple way to get out of here," Matthew said. There was a catch to it, but he wouldn't let her know that.
-
"Is there?" She asked tiredly.
-
"Just sign some papers saying you'll never speak of what you hear, take the cash, and you can be on your way," Matt said. He really didn't care if anyone knew, the police couldn't do a thing without substantial evidence, and she hadn't taken a video of the incident. But once she realized that she'd feel indebted to him that he'd let her go and given her money for absolutely no reason.
-
"...Fine," Jenna said. "Where are the papers?"
-
"Probably printing out right now," Matthew said. He stood up. "You surprised me."
-
"Did I?"
-
"Choosing freedom over justice," Matthew said simply.
-
Jenna nodded, not telling Matthew that she was going to leave and then turn him in anyways after she got some evidence.
-
Theo burst into the room with a large stack of papers. "I'm finished!" he said. "This thirty-page document is the contract - "
"No it isn't," Matthew said.
"Theo's expression dropped. "It isn't?"
"Too long." "But Matt," Theo pleaded,
"This was the shortest I could manage to get it to!"
"Well then make it shorter," Matthew said. "I want a maximum of six pages."
Theo looked appalled at the notion. He walked out of the room muttering to himself. -
-
Jenna chuckled. “Long contract,” she stated.
-
"He never stops trying to show off what kind of education he has," Matt said with a chuckle. "Honestly, I'd be surprised if I'd be able to pronounce half the words he puts in there."
