The forest itself was almost alive, filled with the sounds of chirping birds, breezy winds, and rushing waters. On this day, the sun peeked through the clouds and warmed up the little plants and animals.
The sun also shone on a particular tree, big, covered with moss. Inside the hole of this tree lived a colony of fairies. Each fairy possessed a special power. One fairy could control the wind, while another could turn invisible. All of these fairies could speak to animals as well, and were friends with many of them.
There was one fairy though, who did not know her power. She believed she was an outcast, and did not possess any special power. This fairy could never find herself happy, and she always felt out of place.
The fairy flew out of the colony to relax by the river and admire its beautiful sounds. She was at peace with herself when she suddenly fell into the water. -

A small frog was relaxing in the nice cool waters on this sunny summer day, positively oozing with happiness. He was sitting in the shade when he heard a small splash in the water and swam over to investigate and see what it was.
To his surprise, it was a fairy! He slid underneath her, bobbing to the surface and shining slimily. "Hold on!" he told her. -
The fairy felt the the frog's skin beneath her, and she began to squirm. She was a nervous wreck, but after a few second, she felt on tightly. “Th-thank you, dear frog,” She stuttered out, and flew to a flower nearby.
-
"No problem," the slimy frog croaked, blinking unevenly at her as he crawled under a toadstool to avoid drying up. "How did you end up in the river anyway?"
-
The fairy sniffled, “I’m just the clumsiest fairy I know.” She sighed as she wiped off her wings. “No one understands me.”
-
"Well sure, they do," the frog said, his large beady eyes swiveling around to avoid danger. "Somebody must. What about parents? Do you have parents?"
-
The fairy shook her head. “It’s a bit complicated how us fairies are born into this world,” then she paused. “What about you, frog? Where are your parents?”
-
"I had to go out on my own because I'm not a tadpole anymore. There were a lot of us, so no one could really get much attention from them," the frog said, swiping a slimy pink tongue over one eye. "How are fairies born?"
-
The fairy looked deeply into the frog's eyes, “We are creatures of the flowers. Every spring, the flower buds bloom, where we have been sleeping since our creation.” The fairy sighed, “Each of us are born from a different type of flower, representing our faction and charms.”
-
The frog seemed deeply interest and shifted in a more comfortable position. It had been a while since he'd had a conversation with any living creature, especially a fairy.
"What was your flower?" he asked eagerly. The story she was telling was even juicier than the flies buzzing around nearby, which for once, did not tempt him.
