Timberheart snarled under his breath as Flareglow padded out of camp, looking for her apprentice. He followed her, ducking under brush and hiding behind trees until she stopped, looking around. He froze and hoped his brown pelt would blend in with the forest.
Flareglow stopped and looked around. She had the strange feeling someone was watching her. "Who's there?" she called, her words hanging on the still air. -
Timberheart heard her words, and he had to stop himself from answering. "No," he said under his breath. "I have to do it."
He heard the words of the dead cat echoing through his head. "Destory the Flare glowing through the forest, for if left burning, she will overtake the Dark." -
Timberheart remembered what the cat looked like and what his name was. He had said that his name was simply 'Shadow', and he was a jet black tom with amber eyes and a scar across his muzzle.
Timberheart didn't want to kill this she-cat, for he loved her, but if he didn't, she could destroy his Clan. -
He steeled his nerves and prepared to leap at the unsuspecting she-cat. With a snarl, he jumped out of the brush, landing on top of her and bringing her to the ground with a thump. With his sheer weight, he knocked her out cold.
He let out a breath and got up off of her, checking to see if she was really unconscious. When he was sure of it, he picked her up and lifted her onto his back. Grunting, he made his way back to DarkClan. -
When he arrived at DarkClan, his leader gave him a brief nod before ordering all other cats to make a cage for the still-unconscious cat.
When it was done, the cage was quite impressive. With sticks, logs, and grass woven together with stones shoved into the cracks, there was no way she could get out without going through the entrance, where it would be guarded day and night. It was quite small, though, and Flareglow would be miserable inside. Timberheart tossed the limp she-cat into the cage and stood in front of it, guarding it. -
Smokepaw was awoken from a nightmare. He looked around, wondering where he was, before remembering he was now in the WaterClan apprentice den. He felt a weight beside him and he turned to see his brother, fast asleep. He shook his head, remembering his nightmare.
"Flareglow," he whispered. Then his eyes went blank and he froze, motionless.
Sharkpaw heard Smokepaw's word and woke up, looking over at him sleepily. He saw his brother sitting up, as stiff as a rock, and nudged him. "Hey," he mewed. "Go back to sleep." Then he heard the whisper.
"Destroy the Flare glowing through the forest, for if left burning, she will overtake the Dark."
Sharkpaw stumbled back in shock. Was that a prophecy? He began to whimper and ran out of the den and to the medicine cat's cave, where Coralmist was sleeping. He shook her until she woke up, her blue eyes full of sleep. "What's going on, little one?" she murmured, barely awake. -
Sharkpaw knew that Flareglow was his mother's sister, but he didn't see her very much. Peachripple told him that Flareglow hated her for leaving, and her being angry was just her way of missing her.
"Smokepaw. Something is wrong with him," he mewed urgently to Coralmist. "He said something about Flareglow, my mother's sister, and then something that sounded like...sounded like, well, a prophecy."
Coralmist jolted out of her nest. "He did? Oh no, I was hoping it didn't involve him."
Sharkpaw was confused. "What do you mean?"
Coralmist turned her wide eyes to Sharkpaw. "What else did he say? The prophecy, I mean."
"He said that someone needed to 'destroy the Flare glowing through the forest or she will overtake the Dark'. Something like that." Sharkpaw answered. -
"Is that all he said?" Coralmist asked him. "There should've been more."
"What do you mean?" Sharkpaw asked confusedly.
"Destroy the Flare glowing through the forest, for if left burning, she will overtake the Dark. Smoke will rise, then blow away, and the Timber and Spruce will become one with Ash." Coralmist finished, a strange look in her eyes.
"W-what does that mean?" Sharkpaw asked her, unnerved.
"It means that Flareglow is meant to bring down the tyranny of DarkClan. Smokepaw is supposed to help her, but if she dies, so will he, and the three evil cats in DarkClan will join together and rule over the territories." The look on her face was terrifying.
"Smokepaw...dead?" Sharkpaw trembled. "W-well, who are the three evil cats?"
"DarkClan leader Ashstar, deputy Sprucecreak, and Timberheart, the one that does their dirty work." -
Timberheart, still guarding the entrance of Flareglow's cage, heard a faint hiss. He turned around to see her sitting up, shaking her head. She spotted him and snarled. "You," she hissed. "You attacked me!"
Timberheart's hardened demeanor softened slightly, and he brought a paw to his mouth. "Shh," he said. "You're in DarkClan camp."
Flareglow narrowed her eyes and brought her needle-sharp claws out.
"Wait," he said hastily. "Listen. Ashstar is going to try to kill you. But if you can prove your strength, he'll let you live, but only just. I can't free you, but I can convince Sprucecreak to make Ashstar just give you a few scratches."
Flareglow stared at him in shock. "Why is this happening?" sh hissed. "What did I do to you?'
Timberheart shook his head. "I can't tell you, but you need to trust me."
"Why should I?" retorted Flareglow. "You attacked me!"
Timberheart sighed. "Because I like you, okay? And I don't want to see you dead." -
Flareglow huffed. "Fine. But I still don't like you, alright?" She turned away from him angrily.
"That's okay," Timberheart said under his breath. "Because I like you." -
(Forgot I had this account lol)
It had been two moons since Flareglow had disappeared, and Crescentshine had fallen into a seemingly endless sadness. Sheeptuft tried and tried to cheer her up, but it was no use. Even her brother, Frostdrizzle, who hardly ever seemed to care about anything, was distraught.
"Crescentshine," Sheeptuft said to his mate, who was staring blankly at a wall. "Please come back to me. For all of us." -
"And for our kits," he whispered. He wasn't the only one noticing Crescentshine's increasingly large belly. He stroked his tail alongside her and she shivered. Sheeptuft's heart leaped. He was barely ever able to get a reaction out of her. "Crescentshine?" Sheeptuft murmured.
She blinked and turned her head to him. "Sheeptuft," she breathed. "My burning inferno..." -
Flareglow smiled warmly at Timberheart, staring up at him with eyes narrowed with happiness. It had been six moons since she was taken, and although in the beginning, she was full of rage towards Timberheart, now she was at peace with it. She understood that he was just following orders and didn't realize how wrong it was, and had finally forgiven him when he saved her from nearly certain death. Ashstar was still resentful, but he had left Flareglow and Timberheart alone for the most part.
-
She glanced down from Timberheart to her belly. It was slowly growing in size, and there was no doubt that she was pregnant. At first she was terrified, but she eventually grew warmer to the idea of little Flareglows and Timberhearts running around camp.
Flareglow did want to go home though, nearly every day, but Sprucecreak and Ashstar told her that if she left, they would kill Timberheart. So she stayed. She missed her siblings and her father terribly, and knowing that Crescentshine had given birth last moon, she was even more sorrowful that she couldn't see the kits. -
Smokepaw grinned happily as he watched his brother, Sharkpaw, step forward to receive his warrior name. Although technically, his training wasn't quite over, Minnowstar had decided to make him a warrior early after he had saved Pondglimmer's kits from a hungry fox.
Sharkpaw, heart pounding, stepped towards Minnowstar. She smiled at him warmly, and began the ceremony.
"I, Minnowstar, leader of WaterClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn. Sharkpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" she asked him, her eyes sparkling.
"I do." breathed Sharkpaw.
"Then by the powers of CelestialClan, I give you your warrior name. Sharkpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Sharkleap. StarClan honors your courage and compassion, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WaterClan."
Smokepaw's cheers were the loudest, although he was disappointed that he wasn't a full medicine cat yet.
