Freya followed him up until she nearly smacked face first into a ward. Of course he'd have wards around his home. Annoying, she thought to herself. She sighed breathlessly, patting herself down while trying to find something that could let her slip through the wards unnoticed.
-
Michah knew something was off, but he wasn't sure what. He took his amulet in his hand and started chanting a charm. He could take no chances. It sealed the doorway, making it impossible for any force or anything to slip through.
-
Freya eventually found something in her pouch— a small, magical stone that would make a temporary hole in the barrier. She places it on the floor and kicks it forward. She could visibly see the hole. She bent down and slid inside, picking it up and watching the barrier seal back up behind her. She prayed that he wouldn't have more seals, as she wasn't well equipped for that.
-
After that, Michah uttered another charm, making the door invisible on the outside.
-
(but wait, there's more!)
He felt more secure, but he was on his guard. -
Apparently, Freya had spoken too soon. By the time she got over to the house, she noticed that there wasn't a door. Either Michah knew he was being followed, or he was one paranoid mage. She slowly creeps around the house, desperately looking for some other way inside.
-
Michah sighed. He grabbed a small snack. He pulled out a book and started memorizing the charms in it. I'm order to cast a charm, spell, or whatever you called it, you had to hold your amulet, and chant the charm exactly as it said without stopping, otherwise you had to start over and do it again and that could mean life or death. You had to take hold of your amulet in order for it to have an energy source. Too many charms meant that you'd be weak and vulnerable.

(Quick question-- Would his windows be warded too, or would she be able to just break one/slide it open somehow?)
-
(I thought I posted that he closed them in my last post, but apparently not. He didn't seal or ward them. them.)
-
-
Freya eventually found a window. She carefully wiggled it, testing to see if it was warded or locked. Luckily enough for her, it was neither of those things. She was able to pop it open silently, allowing her to climb inside and carefully slide it shut behind her.

Michah was rememorizing a particularly hard charm. Memorizing things had been hard at first, but after a while the action had gotten much easier. He was halfway through it when he remembered something. His potion. It was extremely complex, and had to constantly be taken care of. He walked into his potions room. Hopefully he hadn't ruined it.
-
It took the assassin a moment to get adjusted to her surroundings, but she took it all in, quickly mapping out this particular room in her mind. Freya wasn't positive where Michah was, but she knew he was in this house somewhere. She snuck off in a random direction, hoping she'd hear him moving about.
-
Michah attended to his potion, then put a few ingredients on the table for him to put it. It was at it's second to last stage. The last one was the hardest. Michah added the correct ingredients in the correct order and followed the directions exactly.
-
After a bit of sneaking around, Freya finally heard him— she ducked into a nearby room, listening in. He wasn't making too much noise, but she could tell from the smell of things that he was in a potions room. She wrinkled her nose, trying to figure out what to do next. Should I try to kill him right now? She thought to herself, dropping her hands to her belt and lightly touching her weapons. I wonder if he's still being cautious...
