Imogen started driving. "What is it?" she asked.
-
"Just taking notes," Oliver said. "I've got a disappointing amount of information altogether."
-
"I know," Imogen said. "We're barely getting anything."
(I wonder if actual detectives would consider us good or bad ones.) -
I'm sure I'm doing it terribly, because I have done NOTHING))
"So far we have no leads on who killed Mr. Marlen!" Oliver said. "I can't believe it." -
"We could go back to Mrs. Marlen," Imogen said, "and ask why she didn't tell us his name."
-
"The cop said that we couldn't see her, remember?" Oliver said. "It's very likely that she was trying to protect him."
-
"Right," Imogen said to the reminder. "From what, though? Us? If he's innocent he shouldn't have to worry about us."
-
"That's true," Oliver said. "Although he's pretty suspicious."
-
"I couldn't tell if that was his being suspicious or his uppity I have no time for any of this poppycock attitude," Imogen said.
-
"You really don't like him, huh?" Oliver said.
-
"No, I don't," Imogen said.
-
"You can have attitude too, you know," Oliver said, his eyes twinkling with merriment.
-
"I do not!" Imogen said.
-
"You're only proving my point," Oliver protested.
-
Imogen held her mouth closed tightly to keep things from coming out of it. "How so?" she asked.
