Jenna sat on the ground. "Well, the thing is, based on that last stunt you just pulled, is that you don't. You don't fight unless provoked. What Beth did was not provocation. That was her giving you a dare, like everybody was doing to everybody else."

"But I don't like being laughed at..." Accalia mumbled as her ears lowered against her head.

Jenna resisted the slight urge to laugh. "Of course you don't," she said. "No one likes it. But you need to resist the urge to kill just because people were laughing at you."
