C1 a soldier in the kings army, but was wounded badly in battle and thought to be dead. Thing is, he was dead. That is until his body was taken by a witch who brought him back to life.
C1 awakens with no memories of his former self, not even knowing their own name until they notice the nametag around their neck. They remember the simple things such as speech, of course.
C2, the witch, was still an apprentice when their teacher/sister died due to the king accusing them of diseasing the herds. They were still wanting to test what they known, get better, and tested their skills on C1 when they found them. Taking them back to their home where they performed the spell. But it didn't work to 100%, since C1 had lost their memory.
