That should more than work. I'm going to use a realistic face claim if that's alright with you? -
Yeah that's cool.
I'll start on mine soon -
Name: Kase Vallis
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Unsure. Between school, church and extracurricular activities, Kase didn't have much time to experiment.
Physical Appearance: Kase Vallis
Personality: Kase is a genuinely friendly person, and has never met anyone he didn't feel comfortable talking to. However, he lacks people skills and doesn't know how to read social situations. Although he has no problem initiating conversations, he's not often able to go past polite small talk. He shies away from talking about himself, and most people think he's a great listener, but really he just dislikes having to share. He's more passive aggressive than most people, but thay doesn't mean he's a doormat. He simply doesn't like to start conflict when he can avoid it.
Likes: Sciene, space, the beach, photography
Dislikes: Poetry and most reading, alcohol, drugs and smoking, phone calls
Other: He has a small black cat named Soup. Kase was raised in a Baptist family, and though he still attends church with them, he's slowing learning that he disagrees with some of their views. He was homeschooled until highschool and attended a small, private school from 9th grade to graduation. -
Name: Arlo Greene
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Pansexual
Physical Appearance: Arlo is about 5'9 and has slightly above average build. He has short messy black hair that right now is styled in an undercut. He has dark green eyes and a beauty mark under his left eye. His skin is slightly tanned from days of just laying out in the sun in the summer. He has 'It's not real' tattooed in a brush font across his right collar bone and 'In Onmia Paratus' on the side of his index finger.
Personality: Arlo is generally really laid back and is a "go with the flow" kind of person. He's somewhat curious but has a need to do as much as he can in as little time possible. He doesn't trust really anyone and isn't friends with a lot of people but is friendly with most people so he still talks to them. He can be really sarcastic and microslutty. He hates competition so much that as soon as its mentioned he looses all interest, he has a tendency to get into fights, not for many really reasons but if the people around him are being picked on or disrespected he gets defensive for them. He's kind of rough around the edges, the drugs and alcohol being mainly an escape and something fun to do, but he's not a bad guy. He's not one to get angry or upset easily but once he does he's obvious and loud
Likes: Alcohol, marijuana, cigarettes, gummy worms and bears and the people that give them to him.
Dislikes: Large and small animals (he's scared of them), being told what to do, strict and annoying people, people filming portrait
Other: he has two older twin brothers, Davis and Jonah, Jonah is a genius and has an almost perfect memory, he skipped a few grades and is a surgical resident at a hospital on the other side of the country at 24, he doesn't call home much. Davis is in a mental hospital because of his schizophrenia. His mom has both paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar depression. The twins have a different father than him but none of them know their fathers.
His mother was going through a hippie phase when she had him. -
Shall I start?
-
Sure

The apartment was spotless, and Soup was still angry with him for the flash-cleaning he'd been doing the past two days. The cat sat perched on the window seat, eyeing him carefully while he paced back and fourth along the length of his living room. The boy would be here any second, and Kase wasn't sure what to expect. Would he be a deliquent, covered in tattoos and piercings? Would he be a crack-head that would secretly sell Kase's TV to get a fix? Would he wake up one night to a knife against his neck because he'd somehow upset the younger boy?
Needless to say, Kase has heard some pretty wild stories from others in the Big Brother/Big Sister program, but supposedly the highs chooler he was being paired up with was "low risk," despite having a small criminal record. Kase hadn't met him yet, wasn't given more than a name. (He had wanted to search the kid on social media instantly, but the advice pamphlets the lady in the office had given him said not to. He was supposed to let the kid give his first impression in person. Respect and all that jazz.)
He was going into this almost entirely blind. It was a fairly simple arrangement, the high schooler would be staying in his spare room throughout summer and his senior year. Kase was supposed to provide a positive example for him, and be a gentle, guiding hand. Every month, they'd attend a group "activity session" with other participants, and every other week, a counselor would evaluate their progress. Kase wasn't sure what progress he was supposed to be making.
He had a lot of questions, but all he could do for now was wait. -
Arlo stood on the bus, a duffle bag of his crap on the floor of the bus by his feet. He didn't bring a lot with him and most of his stuff was still locked in his room at the house, he expected that whoever he was staying with would give up sooner or later and he didn't want to have to bring a lot of stuff back when he did. He had his headphones in under his hood drowning out the people around him, he was somewhat worried about this but not too much, he hoped he got someone cool. He was still a little bitter about needing a babysitter but there was nothing he could do at this point. He realized this song he has stuck in his head was playing through the headphone and started along with the song, "Yeah, I guess I'm a disappointment doing everything I can, I don't wanna make you disappointed. It's annoying. I just wanna make you feel like everything I ever did wasn't ever tryna make an issue for you but, I guess the more you thought about everything, you were never even wrong in the first place, right? Yeah, I'ma just ignore you walking towards you, with my head down, lookin' at the ground, I'm embarrassed for you. Paranoia, what did I do wrong this time? That's parents for you, very loyal? Shoulda had my back, but you put a knife into my hands before. What else should I carry for you? I cared for you but feels like we're on the edge right now. I wish that I could say I'm proud, I'm sorry that I let you down l-l-let you down." The door on the bus opened at his spot so he picked up the bag and hopped out of the bus still singing the song as he started walking the rest of the way to the address written on his hand. "All these voices in my head get loud I wish that I could shut them out. I'm sorry that I let you down. L-l-let you down. Yeah, you don't wanna make this work. You just wanna make this worse, want me to listen to you but you don't ever hear my words. You don't wanna know my hurt, yet, let me guess you want an apology, probably, how can we keep going at a rate like this? We can't, so I guess I'ma have to leave. Please don't come after me. I just wanna be alone right now, I don't really wanna think at all. Go ahead, just drink it off, both know you're gonna call tomorrow like nothing's wrong ain't that what you always do?I feel like every time I talk to you, you're in an awful mood, what else can I offer you? There's nothing left right now, I gave it all to you.Feels like-"
His song was cut off by his phone ringing. He took out his headphones and answered the call, "Hey Jonah." He said quietly and took a smoke out of the pack in his bag and grabbed his lighter and lit it. The yelling and excitement behind him could be heard perfectly
"Hey wh- Will you guys shut up I'm on the phone!" He yelled to the other people. "How are you so excited, you've been up for thirty hours straight!" Arlo stopped in front of the building on his hand to finish his smoke.
"Exactly!" A giggling girl yelled at him.
"Anyway, why did you call?"
"Is it your girlfriend?" a very loud very aggressive 'Marrisa give it back" could be heard and then arguing for a few minutes, "Hello! Who are you?" She finally asked as he took a long drag.
"Arlo." He spoke blowing the smoke out
"I don't know who that is."
"I'm not surprised, can I-" Heat ran through his finger as the sides of his fingers burned and he instinctively flicked the butt far away from him, "f---, f---ing hell, mother fu- that hurt!" He yelled shaking his hand. "Anyway, can you give the phone back to my brother, I'm already late." The girl mumbled something but did as he asked.
"Okay pipsqueak, what do you want?" Jonah asked as Arlo walked into the building and went on his search for the apartment.
"Mum's off her meds and she took off again."
"Are you kidding me. Shes off her meds?" He whispered like his friends couldn't still hear him.
"She's never on them, to begin with. Look I'm sure she'll come home eventually, she has the car this time. She's on a high right now anyway it's not that bad." He said with a shrug even though his brother couldn't see. "I'm just warning you she might show up. Look I'm late and my PO really hates it when I'm late for our sessions." He said with a small smirk as he knocked on the door, "I've been late the past few time and my god does he get mad."
"PO? Did you get arrested?"
"Hmm who knows?"
"I swear-"
"Bye have fun cutting people open." He said and hung up the phone.
He sighed and leaned back on his heels and then rocked back and forth, he looked at the writing on his hand and narrowed his eyes as it dawned on him... He was given the wrong time so he'd be on time. "f---ing Kevin." He mumbled. -
He guessed that he had about ten more minutes or so before the kid showed up. And, f---, he's got to stop referring to him as the kid in his head. His copy of the contracts (which are under Soup's stomach currently) had his new.. Roommate's name printed carefully at the top. Arlo.
Kase wasn't sure if roommate was the right word. The counselors told him to call Arlo his little brother, and treat him as such, but Kase is an only child and isn't sure how exactly that arrangement works. Roommate, little brother, those both feel wrong. He wonders if the kid-- Arlo feels any better about the situation than he does.
He nearly jumps out of his skin when someone raps on the door, loud and imposing. It takes him a good thirty seconds and another series of loud knocks before he rushes over and pulls it open, fully expecting to get him first look at-
"Adam," He exhales, a mixture of disappointed and relieved. His neighbor (and, by default, closest friend) peers curiously around his shoulder, rocking back on his heels. He was Pepper, his black German Shepard on a leash, but she's sitting politely next to him, the picture of innocence. Kase wishes his friend were as well behaved as his dog.
"So, is the delinquent here yet?"
"You- You can't call him that, Adam. It's rude," Kase stutters even as he opens the door wider, letting him inside.
"Sure, sure. Sorry." When Adam laughs, a shock of blonde hair falls over the top of his glasses, and he pauses to fix them while letting Pepper into the apartment. Soup takes one look at her and jumps down, rushing off to hide in Adam's bedroom. "But, have you broken down and looked the kid up online yet? Arlo Greene, right?"
Adam lets out a low whistle, and starts spewing information before Kase can get him to shut up.
"He's crazy. Not a repeat offender, but he does have a track record and one hell of a reputation. Two older brothers, did you know about that? And a mom who-"
"Okay, enough," Kase finally gets a hand over his friends mouth, who continues talking for a moment, muffled. He pauses, and then licks the palm of Kase's hand, which he quickly yanks back with a screech. "Ew, Adam, what the f---!" -
I'm so sorry if that didn't make sense I was like half asleep..)
The door was ripped open in front of him and the angry lady was instantly angrier. "You're an hour late!" She yelled. Arlo has said to his brother that he was meeting with his PO but that wasn't really the case, he didn't remember what the lady's job was but he was positive she wasn't an actual probation officer. He never told his brother about what had happened and had no intention of doing so, since Jonah was the only sane adult in the family he should have been marked as caretaker in some way but neither of them cared enough to prove their mother wasn't of sound mind or something like that but in not doing so Jonah was never contacted when Arlo and the rules had a little disagreement. "I told you to be here an hour ago! It would have been better if I dropped off the papers myself!" She keeped getting louder and louder.
"K-Kevins calm down." He spoke softly but realized it was a mistake.
"Calm down? Are you kidding me! You're an hour late! An hour! I gave you a time forty minutes before you had to be here so you're technically an hour and forty minutes late!" She sighed and rubbed her temples, "Take this." She stuffed an envelope in his hands and grabbed her keys and shut the door. "Let's go!" She huffed and started to walk down the hall. He walked quickly after her so she wouldn't get angry again.
He followed her out to the old beat up car out behind the building. He opened the backseat and tossed his bag in then hopped in the passenger seat, he bucked his seatbelt and patiently waited until she started moving. He then started to play with the large yellow envelope, "So what's in here?" He asked while trying to break the seal carefully. She smacked his hand.
"No, it's not for you."
"But it's about me, isn't it?" He asked with a small smirk.
"Doesn't matter and maybe it isn't." His smile dropped.
"But it is." He said and she didn't answer, so he was correct. The sat in silence for the rest of the way.
When the car stopped he hopped out and then grabbed his bag, as he walked to the front of the building he went to reach for his pack. "I swear to god Greene you stop to kill your lungs right now I will kick your ass! Run! Now!" He looked back at her and determining she was serious he started to run into the building and up the stairs. He stopped in front of the right door. He held the duffle bag over his shoulder and the envelope in the other hand, he thought he could hear people talking but sighed and decided he didn't care if he interrupted. He knocked a few times and then dropped the hand holding the envelope back down to his side. -
(You're fine! c:)
"I'm just saying," Adam picks Pepper's lead back up, even as she strains towards where Soup had taken off to. "You need to be tough with this kid. He's not like us. He didn't grow up learning manners and things like how to be a productive member of society-"
"I know that. It's my job to teach him those things," Kase is smiling now. It's hard to deny that underneath all his nerves and hesitations, he's actually excited to try and help Arlo, to turn his life around. All the guiding pamphlets have instructed him not to treat his 'little brother' like some charity case, though. He's just another human being. Kase is about to tell Adam just that when his door is knocked on for a second time, and he realizes that, s---, that had to be him.
Before he can move to get it, Adam is thrusting Pepper's leash into his hands and pulling the door wide open, making a grand sweeping gesture with his arm.
"Arlo Greene? Hi, the name's Adam Polist," Adam points a thumb to himself, and then turns it towards Kase, "And that's Kase Vallis, so he's actually the one who should be doing introductions. Can I take your bag?"
While Adam plays the roll of an unhelpful butler, Kase stands frozen in the middle of the living room, staring at the teenager. -
Arlo jumped slightly when the door opened, people had to stop opening the door so dramatically. He blinking a few times, "Hey. " He said simply, "Um su-" He stopped when he realized the dog in the room, "I'm good, I'll hold onto it." He said tightening his grip on the strap. He looked at the dog and shifted away from it hoping to be as discreet as possible. He bit his lip tightly and gave the two of them a small smile.
He reached out his hand towards Kase trying to hand him the envelope but also not wanting to be near the dog. "This is for you. I don't know whats in it though." He said a little bit of bitterness in his voice because he still really wanted to know what was in it. His tattoo on his finger was visible from the way he was holding the envelope, his grip tightened a bit more on the bag.
