A group of three or more friends who all have one thing in common, they have not even the slightest belief in magic, they don't even bother to think about what they would do if they discovered something magical, and whenever anyone talks about things like that they think it's stupid. But when they each find what they think is a really cool rock and bring it home with them they aren't expecting anything magical. But when they all wake up the next morning they find out that the rock was actually an egg, and egg for a mythical creature. Yet despite this evidence, they refuse to believe that the creature is magic, and instead believe that it is just a mutant.
They each keep their new pets a secret, even from each other, for three weeks. On the last day of that third week they are each in the forest the play with their pets in private, but they all end up coming across each other, and after seeing more supposedly mythical creatures, they all have to admit that magic just might be real. After seeing each other's pets, they still don't tell anyone else about the magical creatures.
The group of friend then decide to see what other magical things there are, such as seeing if they can do any spells, and if they can find any real spells. And they get more curious about the weird stuff that happens in their town, which they had never questioned before now. They will quickly discover that magic has been right under their noses this whole time, meanwhile people who know them will get curious about their new secretive nature, and the fact that they seem to be very interested in magical and mythical things.
