Kate was in the cafeteria, chatting with her friends. Hey Kate! Samuals checking you out! One of her friends teased. Kate rolled her eyes at the news. Sam was the cutest boy in school. At least, thats what her friends said. The boy had a lack buzz cut and a skull nose ring. His skin was tanned and muscular and his grin was charming. Otherwise he looked more like a goth than a cute boy. Hes not my type. Kate told them, looking around the cafe. She was waiting for everyone to be in the cafe so she could announce the pool party she was hosting this weekend. -
Jocie and Aria walked in to the cafeteria,trays in hand as they walked towards their usual table.But there was a change.The popular girls were sittingbthere?Including Aria's crush...Kate.Aria tugged Jocie's arm and turned her away.

Kate smiled once everyone was in the cafe and stood up on the table. Ladies and Gentlemen, andthose in between! Even those who are loving, and those who are mean! Kate announced to get attention. She had worked all weekend on that line. Luckily it was working. As you all probably know, this Friday is my sweet sixteen! Kate cheered, the popular crowd burst into applause.
Just about Everyone in this room is invited! You just need to bring three things to my party. A gift thats worth around twenty dollars, something to hold a present in, and one of these invites. Kate explained, holding out a large pile of golden cards. People started crowding around. Oh, Im sorry. You arent invited. Kate fake apologized to Sam when he came for a card as she passed out an invite to some nerds. Sam was actually one of the only ones not invited. That and two kids who kept pestering her little brother. -
Jocie glared at Aria."You don't want an invite?"she asked a little surprised.This was the birthday of the most popular girl in schoolHow could her best friend not want to get an invite?
Aria bit into her pizza.She looked at her friend who's eyes turned from shock to pleading.She knew she wanted to go and see if maybe Kate would notice her.But what if she didn't like her?She put those thouhts aside for her best friend and walked to where Kate was still standing. -
Kate was about to put away the left over invitations, but noticed two other girls coming over. Kate smiled, studying one of the girls with light brown hair and green eyes. Hey there! Kate greeted, handing them the invitations. She smirked charmingly as she handed the chest nut haired girl her invite and walked out the cafe with her friends, a sway in her hips.

Aria swooned and Jocie took notice.She had not received an invitation...Well she knew that her best friwnd wouldnt go if she didnt.She smiled and hooked her arm."Snbs am i right?"she asked.
Aria looked at the invitation and said "I need a makeover" -

Hey Joe, who is that girl with the chestnut hair? Kate asked her friend Joyce. Joyce was the secretary of student council and head of the Yearbook. She knew everyone. Thats Aria James. Shes nobody really. Why? Joe asked, painting her nails. -

"Because Jocie me is a nobody!"she said as if her friend had just asked her an obvious question. -
Kate nodded. Which swim suit should I wear tonight? Kate asked, texting people on her phone the same question. I like the blue one on you. It says; Im casual, but still a babe. Joe replied. Kate nodded. Yeah. I do enjoy the country style of it. Leslie says I should go for the purple one because its more classy. Britney says the red because its hot. Kate sighed. You guys, are no help, what, so ever. Kate sighed, picking her stuff up. Maybe buy a yellow one with black accessories. Then you can be the Queen Bee. Now suggested. No. Already did that two years ago. Kate replied.

Jocie ran up the stairs."Come on"she said urging her friend to hurry up.Jocie's room walls were lined with costume accsesories and posters of actors and singers.She had an immense vanity and clothes were draaped all over her room.She opened her walk in closet and said"choose one of the pre-made outfits."

After Aria had chosen an outfita red sundress with red flats-Jocie did the rest.She dyed her hair blue and gave her blue eye contacts.Sge painted her nails red and did her makeup,adding eyelashes and red lipstick.All she had to do now was pass a night and shiw up to school perfect! -
The next day, Kate got off the bus humming a song that was stuck in her head. She was scanning the crowd and saw Sam terrorizing a nerd for their invitation. Sam, thats a no no. Kate teased, dragging him away from the poor nerd.

Aria walked a little nervously behind Kate just enough to have pushed her a little.She gasped and began to apoligize.
Jocie was still walking to school.She swooned over the thought of Aria but continued to walk.
