The kingdom of Vitae has had a dragon problem for a while, meaning most people are absolutely terrified of them, and some people's entire lives revolve around killing dragons. Now onto the characters!
C1 is the child of the Grand Wizard, who's main job is creating protections from dragons. C1 is also their parent's apprentice.
C2 is the child of the head of the army, who spends much of their time fighting dragons. C2 is often being trained by their parent.
C3 is the child of a great inventor, who often makes things to help protect against and fight dragons. C3 is also their parent's apprentice.
C4 is the child of a great dragon hunter. C4 is also being trained to hunt dragons like their parent.
C5 is a young water dragon.
C6 is a young fire dragon.
C7 is a young lightning dragon.
C8 is a young ice dragon.
The four kids are all good friends and they all live either in or near the castle. One day they are walking in the woods together, just having a good time when something rather strange happens. All four of the dragons' mothers have recently died, their fathers left long before they hatched. Since they are so young they aren't completely ready to take care of themselves yet, so when they see four human teenagers walking in the woods they decide that they will be perfect new parents, they each pick one of the four kids to be their parent, and here is who chose who:
C5 chose C1.
C6 chose C2.
C7 chose C3.
C8 chose C4.
When four young dragons come out of nowhere and basically attach themselves to the four friends, they aren't exactly sure what to do at first, after all, what are they supposed to do in this situation? C4 thinks they should kill them and the others agree, but when they are about to kill the dragons, they just can't bring themselves to, especially when the dragons very clearly voice what they want in the kids' minds, which no one knew dragons could do. The kids decide to bring the dragons home, and of course not let anyone know about them. The kids' families and friends notice a change in their behavior, they are very clearly hiding something and they seem to have developed an unusual compassion for dragons, so they decide to investigate.
Medieval.
Everyone has two characters, a human and a dragon.
Your dragon character cannot be your human character's dragon. Meaning that you can't have both C5 and C1, C6 and C2, C7 and C3, nor C8 and C4.
I have C3 and C8.
Dragons can talk telepathically to each other and humans.
Dragons mature mentally faster than humans and have much longer life spans than humans.
The dragons should be about the size of a cat or a small dog.
This starts when the kids are walking in the woods and the dragons are doing whatever.

Wouldnt water and ice be the same dragon? Maybe change the ice dragon to an air dragon?

No, they wouldn't, a water dragon would be able to breath underwater and probably has webbed talons, and an ice dragon has freeze breath like a fire dragon has fire breath and can survive in extremely cold temperatures.

I have C3, but you can have C6, you'll have to choose a different human though.
