All right, how about this?:
Two friends, recently graduated from high school, decide to go spend the weekend at a lakeside house. This house belongs to a relative of one of theirs, and rests behind a small mountain range. There is an old urban legend on the mountains, where supposedly, a three headed giant lives, consuming the skin of anyone who dares trek the mountains. The friends hear of this and decide to make a bet. Whoever stays on the path the longest gets one hundred bucks. They eventually find out that the legend is true, but not in the way they expect. -

Our characters are survivors of World War Three, which ended up destroying most of the world. However, there are still plenty of humans left to keep the race alive. But most were either killed off or mutated into towering beasts that threaten to eradicate the rest of humanity. Our characters meet and decide to stick together in this broken and decaying nuclear ridden world.
On the day that a man and woman were to be married, disaster happens instead. A largely infamous serial killer breaks free and crashes the reception, killing the man's wife. He is captured, but the man goes by the rest of his days like a zombie. All the while, his mental state wears incredibly thin. They meet someone who slowly becomes an inspiration for them to live.
Two people, who always thought that they were just ordinary humans, discover that they are not, and that they have gained special abilities for no apparent reason. After learning how to control them, they find out that there are others, but also those who use their powers for evil. -
