"Thankyou." The queen replied, smiling as she turned to her husband. There was a long moment of silence. As the silence went by, the Queens face slowly transformed from a cheerful smile to a cross frown. The king sat there, staring into space, clueless.
"Ahem." The Queen coughed. Her cross look turned into a glare when she realized the King was watching one of the maids. "AHEM." She repeated. "Huh? What?" The king asked, returning his focus. "Tell her the prophecy." The Queen told her husband. Matilda rolled her eyes at her father as she focused on the pretty stranger. -
Tallulah sat down and stared at them, shivering slightly.
-
"Ah, yes. The story of Our kingdom." The king sighed. "This has nothing to do with you." He noted when he noticed the girl's fear. "We tell it to every person who comes here. The shell you found is a cursed gift. Would you like to hear it's story?" The Queen asked. Her gentle smile returned after a few deep breaths.
-
Tallulah smiled and nodded.
-
"Well, once upon a time, a young sorcerer named Kayan fell in love with a human named Kendra. In order to win her heart, he created the most beautiful shell in the world! He then tied to a golden lace and put a curse on it. This curse shrank all that wore it." The king began, taking a sip of water.
"The sorcerer then took the shell and put it around the neck of any man who tried to date his love. They shrank and ran off, never to be seen again. He did the same to any woman who tried to win his affections. Because his heart only belonged to her. He used it on anyone who tried to hurt her, and anyone she wanted to hurt. And one day, she found the shell in his bag." The king continued. He paused again, taking a long drink of water. -
"Then what happened next?" Tallulah asked, really impatient.
-
"She thought it was a gift for her. Clueless to the abilities of the necklace, she slipped it around her neck. By the time Kayan saw her, it was too late. Filled with despair, Kayan carried his love to the forest. He built her a kingdom and a villiage for the now populating people he had sent there." The king replied.
"He knew he would have too many enemies if he were to join his love. So he shrunk her family and the next person who loved her as much as he did. He took them there and returned to the beach where he threw the shell into the ocean. He hoped the shell would be eaten by a shark. And that was what we thought for generations. One hundred years later, it is present day. And today we discovered that the shell lives to this day." The king concluded. -
Tallulah gasped as her eyes widened, "So can you reverse the curse?"
-
"We don't know yet. But I should tell you that the next person to love Kendra was her child. Therefore, someone with Kayan's abilities lives in the kingdom." The king replied, gesturing to a sorceress who entered the room. "This is Salween. She's the granddaughter of Kayan." The king introduced.
-
Tallulah slowly turned to look at Salween, she waved at her, slowly, and smiled sheepishly.
-
Salween curtseyed and sat down. "Until then, I think it's best that you stay in this kingdom." The king added. "Matilda? Would you give this girl a tour of the kingdom?" The king asked. "Whatever." Matilda replied. "Matilda!" Her mother snapped. "Uh... I meant..." Matilda responded, rolling her eyes. She faked a large smile and bowed. "Why yes, of course father!"
-
Tallulah got up and chuckled softly at Matilda.

(Psst, school of secrets, psst)

Matilda took the stranger around the castle and showed her around. "So what's your name?" Matilda asked as they walked down the halls.
