Background:
It's the epitome of chaos in the world right now as the Triple-Alliance or Germany, Italy, and Austria-Hungary move on their quest to conquer Europe. However America and it's allies march against the growing threat to put an end to the war.
Where we fit in:
Were too young Lads and/or Lasses (though lasses wouldn't be historically accurate) are drafted into the Army and are sent to France to repel the opposing forces trying to invade and take over. The two inexperienced soldiers take it from there.
simple but to the point. -
Name: Linda "Lenny" Beckwith
Age: 20
Appearance: This. Lenny typically keeps her hair in a low messy bun. There really isn't a dress code except for the uniform they were assigned.
Clothing: Typical white and red uniform with the little hat with a red cross and shin length skirt and beige oxfords.
Personality: She has a mother like nature where she is very gentle and calm, never hostile. Most soldiers say she has that special touch when she's caring for them.
Background/before the war: Lenny dreamt of being a nurse since she was a child. She was always careful with animals and her peers when interacting with them. Only a few months into school, she was sent to France with a couple hundred soldiers to aid them in war.
I'm hoping this is good -
Name: Derek Greene
Age: 22
Appearance: His hair is brown and parted to the side as to not mess with his vision on the battlefield. He has oliveish skin and a few freckles from his time in Africa with his father.
Clothing: That
Personality: He is usually a pretty cheery person but the war has turned that cheeryness into depression and rage. He has always been a bit hotheaded and is pretty likely to get into fights that he most likely wont win.
Background: His father had fought in the Second Boer War and had moved up to London with his mother. A year or two after he was born his father was murdered by a thief and was raised by his mother until now when he was drafted into the military and shipped off to France. He has been serving as a rifleman since. -
The rain was freezing as it poured onto Derek and the others in his unit. Mini icicles brushed past their faces as the water shook their boat. He had heard about previous boats who had hit rocks and sank, killing the troops inside. He pushed that memory away and focused on actually getting to the port. His commander had heard reports of the Germans ambushing the arriving boats.
He felt a shift in the ground as their boat landed and was being docked. He grasped his rifle as the ramp that was once protecting them from everything opened and his unit scrambled outside. As soon as the first man got out bullets started flying everywhere. Almost immediately men started dropping like flies. Derek ran for cover and jumped behind a few barrels. -
Somehow, Lenny got there safely. She was sent on a small ship with other nurses and a handful of British soldiers. She had been in the same tent for a few days already, but was already getting restless and hungry. The war was slow and so was their business. Maybe a soldier or two would come in every night, sometimes not. There was soon news of a new batch of soldiers coming and the girls started chattering in excitement. The tents were scattered through out a wooded area about a mile from the trenches, because what good were the nurses right next to the battle field? Sure it was a ways away, but it was out of their best interests.
-
Hiding behind the barrels Derek took a quick peek at the Germans, it looked like they were attacking with some MGs. He aimed his rifle at them through a crack between the barrels and opened fire. His first shot missed, but his next one clipped a German in the shoulder causing him to fall over. After a few more minutes of chaos the shooting died down and the Germans were taken care of. He stood up with the rest of the men who had survived to receive further orders from the commander. "We need to move up to the trenches, our boys from 85th need help, and we're going to get them some." After they dispersed he had learned that only 28 of the 50 in his boat had survived the ambush. He was not sure what he had gotten himself into, but knew it was too late to turn back now.

The girls spent their first days playing cards or talking about what life was like back at home. Lenny sat cross legged in a wooden chair filing her nails while listening to the other girls talk about the usual girl stuff. "I had a lover back at home, but I heard he got drafted. I just hope to see him after this is all over." The young girl gave a sad smile and set a card on the table. There were only three soldiers in this tent, and all were asleep. The girls did all that they could to help them, whether it was removing a bullet from their leg or bandaging cuts. They were all well equipped with enough medical knowledge to deal with these situations, but most of them had barely been pulled from college and small hospitals.
-
Derek and his unit trekked along the muddy road, hoping for a sign of anything remotely friendly looking. The wind roared past them, freezing his ears. He gripped his rifle fearing another ambush along the way to the first outpost. It was relatively calm despite the winds but tensions were pretty high among the men. The feeling in his hands was starting to go, so he slung his rifle over his shoulder and rubbed his hands together to try and create some warmth. However his commander smacked his shoulder and very sternly told him to keep his hands on his rifle. He did so, but he was starting to lose the feelings in his hands yet again.
-
Each soldier in the tent was covered in as many blankets as they could spare, and each girl had a cloak. If they hadn't brought the appropriate items, they may have frozen to death. Lenny tucked the filer in her apron pocket and leaned towards the girls and decided she would join in on the conversation. "I never had a lover back at home. Although, I did have a boyfriend in primary school, but it was a silly thing. We kissed each other on the cheek and he would make me drawings of all the things I liked. I never took interest in a single boy since." The girl sgiggled and chattered at once. One girl asked, "What happened to him?". Lenny shrugged and replied, "He moved. Not sure where though. I hope he's doing fine now." She gave a small smile and leaned back.
