Wendy walked in and sat next to Mae. "Hello class. This week we will talk about ocean life culture. For today, we'll talk about Mermaids, serpents, and sirens." The teacher told them.

Leia checked her watch. "We're late for class," she stated nonchalantly to Oliver. She stood up and held out a hand to help him up as well.
Genevieve rose from her seat in the cafeteria that she was just starting to get comfortable with and threw her lunch away, then started to walk to class. She took out her headphones and listened to music for a while, walking slow so she could at least finish two songs. -
Oliver took her hand and sat back up. He said "Let's go." and started walking to class with Leia.

Once everyone was in class, the teacher began. "What do you know about mermaids?" She asked, grabbing a piece of bright pink chalk.

"They half human and half fish" Mae answered. She want correct though

The teacher wrote that on the board, it wasn't exactly accurate. That's what the pink chalk was for though. "Anything else?" She asked. Wendy raised her hand. "They have a sonic voice." She told the teacher. The teacher nodded and wrote that on the board in lime green. Wendy's mom was friends with a mermaid. Wendy raised her hand again, but the teacher waited for someone else.

"Is it okay if I rephrase that? Most Merpeople are female. And the females have more power. So we call them Mermaids. Like men have the power in the human world. So we call them humans. But you're technically right. Only, Merfolk is slang. It's technically Merpeople." She told him.
