The Lord of Darkness is the king of a powerful kingdom, he is called the Lord of Darkness because he was bound to the Darkness Amulet when he was a young boy which gives him Darkness powers. But he wants to have all the powers, so he asked the other four kingdoms on the continent for their Amulets as he knew they each have one of the other four, the Fire Amulet, the Water Amulet, the Air Amulet, and the Earth Amulet. But when they refused he declared war on them. To keep the Amulets safe from the Lord of Darkness each kingdom bound their Amulet to a random foal from their own kingdom knowing he would never expect that. Now, 100 years later, these horses who because of the Amulets can't die of old age, are sent off together to defeat the Lord of Darkness. They only going now because they have spent their entire lives training with their powers and only now are the humans confident they can defeat the Lord of Darkness.
