Name: Bentley Jacobson
Age: 15, nearly 16
Appearance: Bentley has black hair that isnt fluffy or rough, but somewhere in between the two textures. It tends to be slightly messy because he usually neglects brushing it out in the morning. When his mother catches sight of this, she will tend to fix it with a forced smile. He is about 57 and has a slim but somewhat muscular build due to heavy lifting at his job at the local pet store, ONeils Pet Shop and Shelter. His eyes are only somewhat roundish and are a lighter green with even lighter flecks. His skin is still on the paler side, but it has a bit of a tan tone to it. He has small cuts and bruises from doing various different tasks around the shop and shelter. He usually puts bandaids on these, but tends to take them off after a day or two because he grows annoyed by these. He tends to wear clothes that are comfortable on his body, such as sweatpants and sweatshirts, comical tee shirts and long sleeved shirts when the weather calls for them. He prefers loose fitting sneakers such as Nike or Converse. He only has a few pairs of sneakers from over the years. He keeps them in good condition by being careful.
Bad effect Life events: Bentley grew up normal except for a few tragedies and an accident. When he was 6, his favorite family member outside of his parents passed on (his great grandfather, because he always bought him duck themed products, one of Bentleys favorite animals). When he was 10, his dog, Chanter, a Husky, passed away due to natural causes. Throughout the next few years, he witnessed his father battle with drug addiction until he finally died of a drug overdose when Bentley was fifteen. This sent his mother into a depression. She still tries to be happy for her son, but he sees her pain as much as she attempts to hide it.
Good effect Life events: He born around the same time that the family adopted their husky. He grew up with Chanter and the dog was always there for the boy. In elementary school, he received various awards for being an exceptional student and for his various talents. He keeps all of his awards in a drawer that he has in order to remember all of the good times. He keeps different souvenirs and items inside of this drawer, such as a picture of his dad and a few rubber ducks from his great grandfather. He never speaks of these items because he doesnt want to have a chance of losing them. He holds these certain things dear and losing them would devastate him.
Personality: Bentley is a boy that usually goes with the flow of events, even if he doesnt exactly agree with what is going on. He does not have much of a voice, not speaking much in school. In school, he tends to become very overwhelmed and can be prone heart pounds, eyes tearing slightly, tapping, and possible shaking. He is very punctual and always completes his assignments and tasks ready on time. Though he can play soccer fairly well, he has never attempted to try out for the school team or any team, really. This is due to the idea he will fail when he tries. He is always worrying for his mother, tending to take care of meals and picking out her clothes for the day. He is helpful and reliable but is a very nervous person.
Talent: Bentley can play a very wide variety of instruments even though he has only been working with them for a short few years. He is able to play the clarinet, trumpet, piano, guitar, harmonica, drums, violin and cello. He gained this interest after he started to have experiences with death. He found that the calmness and serenity that music offered a place to escape. He started off by listening to the musical stylings of The Beatles, Metallica, Nirvana, Bon Jovi, Beethoven, Mozart, Eurythmics and certain songs by blink 182. After a year or two, he began to toy around with things around the house to get a start. He then got into real instruments around the age of eleven when he stopped by the band room at school rather than play at recess.
Important People In His Life:
Mr. Patrille: The band teacher at his elementary school. He helped Bentley learned the ways of different instruments. He was very patient with the boy and always took the time to help him learn correctly. He also taught him how to overcome any bullies that may have been picking on his. Mr. Patrille has experience because when he was younger, he was teased for being African-American.
James Jacobson: His father, the man who showed him the ways of life until he passed on due to the aforementioned drug overdose. He would always explain why something was the way it was and let Bentley perceive the explanation however he decided to. He was always very supportive of his son and the two held a very strong father-son bond. This would, however, be broken later on in the young males life.
Patricia Jacobson: His mother, who taught him compassion and love/respect for everybody. She is the reason that he acts as well as he does in school and in unfamiliar places with unfamiliar people. Once her husband passed away, she was depressed and held a chest full of regret for her son taking care of her meals and laundry. She always believed that the mother should take full responsibility for her child and the fact that it is almost vice-versa frightens her. She wonders if shell be fully capable of doing what is necessary for Bentley when he decides to go off for college.
Henry Kindrell: His former best friend of eight years. They grew apart due to a fight in which Henry punched Bentley. This was over Henry starting rumors behind Bentleys back in order to gain the respect of his new friends in high school. Sometimes Bentley thinks back on this moment and wonders what he could have done wrong, but he nevers finds a reason.
Dream Job(s): Wildlife Rehabilitator: This is due to Bentleys fascination with animals and how they recover.
Musical Composer: His love for music obviously fueled this desire.
Child Psychologist: To help kids with the same issues that he could have faced during his own life. (he only experienced social anxiety and panic attacks, but he still feels he deserved more help than he got)
