C1 was convicted of the murder of his wife and three young children. However, knowing that he would most certainly be found guilty, he escapes a week before his trial. Two years later, after laying low until everything had died down, C1 surfaces again, with a whole new identity- A different name, new clothes and, most importantly, a new profession.
C1 opens a small traveling circus with a few other escaped convicts he had hid with during those two years. They did well enough, their group growing and making plenty of money. Enough that, eventually, C1 hatches a plan to get out of the country, and eliminate almost all possibility of getting caught. To do that, though, he needed to add onto his acts, find some new shows that would draw crowds to the now not-so-little traveling circus.
Of course, this is rather hard when your performers are all retired crime lords, runaway teens, and escaped criminals. And, there's the fact that C1, the ring master, isn't the nicest person in the world. He dictates them with an iron fist, and if the performers had any way of surviving safely else where, they would.
C2 is a detective hired by C1's late wife's family. One of the best, though a bit young, only in his mid twenties. It doesn't take him long to piece things together and discover the circus. When he hears about C1's plan for a round-the-world-tour, C2 knows that he has to act fast. So, he takes a page from C1's book, and creates a new identity for himself. A young fleeing criminal, who just so happens to be very good at acrobatics and has a smooth had with animals. (C2 trained for months to get these talents, they sure as hell better be worth it.)
Finally, C2 feels that it's time to start on the last step to catching C1- He waits until after a show, and begs to join the circus, claiming that he has no where else to go. C2 accepts, not knowing C1's true identity, and not really caring. He only needed one more act to get the sponsorship he needed.
The circus takes off on their tour, and C2 discovers that C1 isn't the only criminal in the ring, and begins hatching a bigger plot to take all of the criminals in. However, after C2 starts slipping up during shows, C1 realizes that he might have to let him go. Again, C2 begs for a second chance, and, with a bit of pity, C1 agrees, under one condition- That C2 allows C1 to train him. C1 and C2 begin spending time together, and C1 finds himself growing attached to the younger man, and decides to share a secret with him- He really didn't commit the murder.
Now, in other circumstances, C2 might have ignored this- Everyone else says they're not guilty, right? But after living among these men, after getting so close to C2, he realizes that he can't possibly turn them in. And, so, C2 finds himself giving his heart over to a possible murderer, and falling in love in maybe the most dangerous way.
Any takers? I'm open to anyone, so as long as you have pretty good grammar. I'd like to be C2. -
