C1 was convicted of the murder of his wife and three young children. However, knowing that he would most certainly be found guilty, he escapes a week before his trial. Two years later, after laying low until everything had died down, C1 surfaces again, with a whole new identity- A different name, new clothes and, most importantly, a new profession.
C1 opens a small traveling circus with a few other escaped convicts he had hid with during those two years. They did well enough, their group growing and making plenty of money. Enough that, eventually, C1 hatches a plan to get out of the country, and eliminate almost all possibility of getting caught. To do that, though, he needed to add onto his acts, find some new shows that would draw crowds to the now not-so-little traveling circus.
Of course, this is rather hard when your performers are all retired crime lords, runaway teens, and escaped criminals. And, there's the fact that C1, the ring master, isn't the nicest person in the world. He dictates them with an iron fist, and if the performers had any way of surviving safely else where, they would.
C2 is a detective hired by C1's late wife's family. One of the best, though a bit young, only in his mid twenties. It doesn't take him long to piece things together and discover the circus. When he hears about C1's plan for a round-the-world-tour, C2 knows that he has to act fast. So, he takes a page from C1's book, and creates a new identity for himself. A young fleeing criminal, who just so happens to be very good at acrobatics and has a smooth had with animals. (C2 trained for months to get these talents, they sure as hell better be worth it.)
Finally, C2 feels that it's time to start on the last step to catching C1- He waits until after a show, and begs to join the circus, claiming that he has no where else to go. C2 accepts, not knowing C1's true identity, and not really caring. He only needed one more act to get the sponsorship he needed.
The circus takes off on their tour, and C2 discovers that C1 isn't the only criminal in the ring, and begins hatching a bigger plot to take all of the criminals in. However, after C2 starts slipping up during shows, C1 realizes that he might have to let him go. Again, C2 begs for a second chance, and, with a bit of pity, C1 agrees, under one condition- That C2 allows C1 to train him. C1 and C2 begin spending time together, and C1 finds himself growing attached to the younger man, and decides to share a secret with him- He really didn't commit the murder.
Now, in other circumstances, C2 might have ignored this- Everyone else says they're not guilty, right? But after living among these men, after getting so close to C2, he realizes that he can't possibly turn them in. And, so, C2 finds himself giving his heart over to a possible murderer, and falling in love in maybe the most dangerous way.
Any takers? -
I said I'd do this with the first one and you never made your character?
-
I was waiting for you to respond.. Oops.
We can do it in this thread, though, because I like this plot better. I think it's a bit clearer?? But anyways yeah give me a couple minutes -
Okay here's the babe
Name: Roy "Rosalie" Mathers
Age: Roughly 27
Gender: HAHAHAHA. Biologically male, though they identify as low-key genderfluid(?). (More like they just don't care though tbh) Able to pass easily as both genders, though they normally prefer going out in public as their male 'identity' as their few friends prefer to call him. He doesn't really gaf what you call her, couldn't care less, actually.
Appearance: Shoulder-length almost grey hair, with grey-blue eyes to match. Normally wears her hair up in a bun, but he'll let it down and curl is up all pretty every now and then. Make up is a daily think, and since his face is so pale, he prefers to use very bright colors. They're skinny, kind of average height, and extremely flexible.
Personality: Basically jokes about everything they shouldn't. Determined, hard working, very sneaky little bugger. Pervasive, though they don't really get alone with a lot of people due to how crafty she is. -
Okay. I was mainly waiting for age and stuff.
Is the gender in this version solid or were you still planning on making your character genderfluid? -
Um, still gender fluid, but he mostly identifies as male. I may just change it to male if I end up not being able to portray it how it should be.
-
Okay. I was originally going to ask if the murdered people could be like... my character's siblings or roommates or something, but the way you've reworked it makes more sense.
-
okay um I might just be having cold feet but holys--- I just remembered how much I suck at playing hardcore characters
-
It's okay if you don't wannaa
-
Idk man I'm just envisioning my character as a badass but secretly a huge softie who like... all of the others hate him but he's honestly doing his best and
he knows x person is deadly allergic to peanuts but is hated by y, who is the cook, and constantly has to make sure that no peanut related products get into the space
or that b was attacked by dogs as a kid and almost killed so they have to perform their act way before or way after any of the animal related acts are performed
I'm just not sure I'll be able to do the "they're only here because they'll die otherwise" thing -
Yeah yeah that's cool you can totally do that
-
That actually goes along with the whole him taking pity on Roy and deciding to train him tbh

Name: Originator Wonderjoy. Refuses to share his real name, and everyone seems content to call him Wonderjoy.
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Believed that he was only bisexual in theory until he met his late wife. Has not beven able to test his theory due to a lack of attraction for many years.
Appearance: Short, dirty blond hair/grey eyes/average height/average weight/large burn mark along his back and neck/prefers to dress casually and plainly when not performing
Other: After escaping the arson of his home, he went into hiding for a few years, making connections and becoming a different person along the way. While he leads his circus in a strict manner, he genuinely cares about the people and tries his best to keep everything running smoothly. He has a strict policy that forbids those who abuse anyone or anything weaker than they are, due to both personal morals and the loss of his family. -
(Alrighty, here we go
And, yeah, he's just gonna be a male who looks hella good in drag)
Wonderjoy. Roy ran the name around his tongue, shaking his head as he polished one of the stirrups to his saddle. How drunk had the man been when he had decided to have himself called that? Surely, this man who had murdered his wife and children must have been delusional when he came up with this whole plot. It was clever, though, Roy would give him that, but Roy was cleverer still. He sighed and sat the stirrup aside, knowing that he would never get it shiny enough, and regardless of how clean it was, it wouldn't take attention away from how badly he had messed up.
He'd fallen off the back of his horse for perhaps the third time that week, and though he'd recovered the slip ups quickly, he could see Wonderjoy's patience growing thin. In fact, he had heard that the man planned to speak to him tonight and, most likely, throw him off the team completely. -
Doing the nightly rounds of the camp was always a unique experience. Once, the animal handler had decided the dogs needed to be let loose, only to rush back to camp and hide when he lost track of them. Another time, he'd encountered some of the acrobats showing their fellow performers how flexible they actually could be. Wonderjoy managed to shut the situation down quickly and, to his knowledge, nothing of the sort had happened since. He didn't require any sort of medical information on his acts, though he was sure someone would end up spreading something, eventually. Besides, the group had rules on that sort of thing. He expected the others to follow them.
Fortunately, tonight seemed fairly calm. The only issues had been a few performers smoking near the tent of another with terrible breathing issues, and a girl from a nearby town trying to run off with them. Whoever she was or thought she was, he knew she wouldn't actually want too be there. Convincing her to leave was difficult, but he eventually managed. Finished for the evening, he went to check on the newest act, one he'd been foolish to take on. This was exactly why he didn't let new people in. The large tent used for practice was still illuminated, so he assumed the new guy or girl or... whatever, was still there. He stopped outside the tent, trying to figure out what he'd say.
