Carissa walked into the kitchen rubbing her eyes, hair still wet from her shower. She sat down at the kitchen counter and groaned, putting her head in her hands. "Insomnia sucks f---ing ass" she said, aloud even though she was alone. Schools were closed for the week, for repairs after a bus crashed into it, (that actually happened at my school XD) and her parents were away in another state for work so the only people home were her and her older brother Josh. -
Josh sat on his bed with earbuds in his ears, typical day since his parents were gone. He wished there were more days like this, but its not every day a bus crashes into a school. Then he got a text from his dad saying that they would be there for another two weeks and that they might not have power for a while. "God damn.." he shouted. He hated being alone truth was he wasnt, e had his sister there but they didnt talk much.

Carissa let her forehead rest on the cold counter top. Even though it was spring time, it was unusually hot outside, so she sighed slightly happy at the coldness against her forehead. She closed her eyes, unable to keep them open any longer, but still couldn't sleep.

Josh walked down staris he went to the kitchen to eat something. "Ohh uhh hey Carissa" he said "mom and dad wont be home for another two weeks, and the power is going out today cause they didnt pay the bill so later we can play a board game." he said trying to be nice. He grabbed a power bar and gatorade.

Carissa looked up at him. "Seriously? Again?" she groaned, in slight annoyance. "Board games it is then. It's too hot to go outside" she said. "Hand me a gatorade, please?" she asked looking at her brother.

Josh handed Carissa a gatorade. "So any games in mind." he said to Carrisa. " I could drive us to the store to look for one." He sat down on a stool in front of the island. He liked playing games with her usally because they played fair.

"Thanks. How about twister?" she said opened the gatorade and taking a drink. "Or chess and candyland" she added, since it was her favorite 'board' game. She closed the gatorade and set it down. -
"Go ahead and chose, I chose last time." he said trying to be polite. He took a drink of gatorade, it was delicious. He love gatorade. He accutaly liked hanging out with his sister. It wasnt that bad, she had a few things in commen particularly games.

"Hmm. Chess it is then." she said smiling. Even though her brother could get on her nerves sometimes, she did missing hanging out with him. Although she'd NEVER admit it, she looked up to her older brother.

"Ok, ill get the chess board then" he was worried he kinda sucked at chess. Although it was his favorite pass time, and even though he was very athletic he used his brain to the max. To not impress others, but to impress his little sister. He wanted her to think he would be there when she needed him.

"Mkay" she said and rubbed her eyes tiredly, yawning. She laid her head on the counter again. "Josh~ Teach me how to sleep" she said, jokingly and closed her eyes.

"I aint got methods I just pass out." he said laughing. Josh grabbed the chess bored. and set it on the counter, he put the peces in position. He was ready to play. "You ready?" he asked.

Carissa looked up and nodded. "Yeah" She got up and sat across from Josh, looking at the chess board. Since she was white, she went first moving one of her pawns.

Josh moved one of his pawns as well as that is the only thing he could move at the moment. He was awake very awake and she looked tired, really tired. "After this you just want to hang out." he said to Carissa.
