"Thank you. You're so handsome!" She said. She poked his nose and laughed.

"Thanks" Riley said as he smiled and looked outside to the balcony. "You met my mom once, when you were young."

She smiled.
"I bet she was a wonderful woman. I'm sorry to hear about what happened! I can't imagine how you went through that." Calanthe said. -
Riley shrugged a little, brushing it off. "Do you remember, you were about 7, and you wanted strawberries so you snuck out of the palace gates, trying to find the patch. But you fell and hurt your ankle and a woman came and helped you home?" he asked

"Oh yeah. I remember I fell in a hole and I sprained my ankle and she helped me. I was glad she found me." Calanthe said as she remembered.

Riley smiled a little "That was my mom"

"She was beautiful." Calanthe said.

Riley smiled. "Yeah"

"What happened to your father? If you don't mind me asking." Calanthe asked.

"He and my sister got caught in a raid" he said simply "Neither of them made it out"

"I'm so sorry." Calanthe said as she got up and hugged him tightly.

He hugged her back, burying his face in her hair

"I'm sorry, I don't think I should have brought it up. I'm sorry." Calanthe said.

"It's alright. I want you to know everything" he said

"But it isn't my business." Calanthe said letting him go and looking him in the eyes.
